Any Honda CB250 owners?

That's awesome! Curious how you feel about the front brake being a drum? I've heard some grumbling about it, not sure if I should be concerned it's not as safe a ride as a newer bike with disc brakes up front?

The bike is so light that the drum front brake works fine. These motors are bulletproof, the only prob with the 84's is the belt final drive, which you have solved already on your bike. Lots of parts availability. Put a regular bar on it and it looks a lot better. I would pick it up.

over the years a few of these passed through the garage, just remember its 30yrs old and stuff will just get tired. Check the age of the tires on any older bike you look at, the rubber gets hard and they are pretty skinny to start with.

That's one automatic flag for me, even looking through pictures on listings online. I'm starting to notice flaws from photos to rule out some bikes listed too low. I'm learning, go me!

Hey let me know if you went and saw the bike? Keep us updated if you can. Thanks!

Haven't yet - the seller has basically the opposite schedule of mine, between that and trying to get a friend who rides to come with me as a second, more experienced pair of eyes and ears, I'm hoping this weekend pans out... I'll definitely keep you posted!

Between it being difficult to get to see this bike, I was getting more and more wary of the issues that he brought up, after saying it was in perfect condition. So I'm not going with this bike. I bought myself a shiny old bike today instead, ha. A 1973 CB350F. I'm in love.

Your new 350/4 is a Much better bike!

Hey, I'm going through the same issue with this guy. He's extremely frustrating to work with, and it feels as if he doesn't even read my messages properly. I'm taking a day off to meet up with him in waterloo... I live in Toronto. He says there's no way he can meet me before 5:30 pm. This leaves me with no time to get the bike inspected by a mechanic or do the safety on it.

He also is saying that the bike might not pass safety because the rear lights are off. I don't understand why he wouldn't just put them on like in the pictures.

Last but not least, he doesn't reply to messages... I asked him if he has the uvip package he didn't reply. I asked him for the vin so I can get the bike insured, and he wouldn't tell me. I'm riding the bike back from waterloo to Toronto with a friend of mine and I need to know this information, but this guy seems not to be cooperating at all.

Honestly I found his attitude to scare me off more than anything - first it was the front tire that needed replacing, then the clutch was a bit tired... I didn't even get to hear about the rear lights. He told me he needed the money from the sale because he's a student, and working part time.. so if you really want to sell it RIGHT NOW why not just make those minor repairs, safety and get uvip so you can ask for the riembursement in the price and know you aren't selling an unsafe bike to a new rider? Just my opinion, but yeah. He was frustrating to deal with.
If you're not set on an older one and have more flexibility with price, there's a dude selling a 97 Rebel in Scarborough, that's been up for awhile so I imagine he'd be negotiable on price. Listed for $2100, but he responded to messages right away at least. I can post the link if you want.
Let me know how it goes if you end up getting the one in Waterloo!

Oh so the front tire needs replacing? No way! He hasn't told me that at all. He just wants me to come in, pick up the bike and take it back to Toronto. And from the sound of it the bike is safe to be ridden back to Toronto. I'm meeting him at 5:30 tomorrow in waterloo.

Just went back through the messages I had with him and can't find the specific one about the tire.. definitely the clutch being 'tired'. My bad, might have been another bike or through an email I can't find and verify now, so don't take my word but do check the crap out of it.
Have fun and post photos if you get it, it's a pretty bike. :)

Ok I will. But is this normal? He wants me to just pick up the bike with signed registration and bill of sale and then ride the bike to Toronto and go to the MTO. Get the uvip and transfer everything on my own accord, which includes getting the insurance after I bring it to Toronto.

Lastly, he said the clutch issue is basically just the clutch not being lubed enough. He said the clicking noise goes away after the clutch warms up. I'm extremely nervous as this is my first bike ever and don't really have a bike savy friend. I might just take it to a mechanic after I purchase it. Just to make sure it's fit enough to be ridden back to Toronto.

Edit : he said there's nothing wrong with the front tire.

You have 2 options:
1. walk way, run away from this what seems to be fiasco in the making
2. show up with a van and cash of what you want to pay, give him the money and call it a day

It has been my experience that people that value their bikes tend to know the details and want them to go to a good home. I guess it stems from the pride and work they put into them.

If this guy is being a dick, ask yourself, how did he take care of the bike.
good luck!

The SELLER is supposed to provide the UVIP.
You can go get one from the MTO kiosk if he gives you the VIN#.
You need to see that UVIP first, check the VIN #'s on the UVIP, the bike, and the ownership to match them up.
