any bets on what this spring/summer will be like after this terrible winter?

i guess its just the optimist in me thinking that because this winter was seriously terrible, that mother nature will give us an awesome spring/summer......

considering about 3-4 weeks before i hop on the bike again (maybe sooner), what are your predictions for the upcoming spring/summer?

on a side note, it's interesting how all this global warming talk over the past few years resulting in Toronto having shorter winters, actually turned out to be an exact opposite for this year.....

from a google search i did on this i read its going to be a long dry summer....

but Ive alread that this winter was so whacky due to the nuclear reactors blowing up in japan...

who knows though.... just what I heard...

3-4 weeks? I'm almost certain I'm bringing my bike home from my dad's this week!

I've heard April is supposed to be colder than normal, and May is supposed to be warmer than normal. Only time will tell though.

i really hope its we dont get hit wit too much rain.
1 because of bike season,
but more importantly because there is soo much snow up north, if we get massive amounts of rain early in the season its going to flood worse than last year. i had neighbors that had 2 feet of water in their cottage.

I want another drought!

Did we have more than average rain last year? And how much did it snow the year of the most recent drought?

Hmmmm Japan reactors after the quake related to this polar vortex......havnt heard that yet, but still interesting probability!

Last year we got ripped off with a messy spring and what felt like a very short summer
.....

So a drought is in need indeed!

Also not hoping for much rain in the coming weeks, up north of Lindsay, (where I am now), we still have about 3.5 feet of snow on the lawns. Thankfully the cottage is on a very large lake and about 15' above the "normal" waterline. BUT there was $10,000 in shoreline improvements just completed last week, and don't need a ton of rain washing away too much of the new earth nor the ice damaging the new rocks.

On the other hand I want LOTS of rain to wash away all the salt and sand. I doubt my bike will be out for another 6 - 8 weeks. If I were in the city or even down in Niagara area, then it would likely be a few weeks tops. Seen WAY to many riders try to get a jump on early riding and paying dearly when the hit sand.

They mentioned Saturday morning they are calling for a return of El Nino. They just aren't sure if it will be here in time for summer, (If it is then a long HOT DRY summer), or in time for next winter, (then less snow and milder temps).

The road damage from this winter will be the worst we've seen in years. Be prepared for sand covered and pot hole ridden roads with clean up and repairs not completed as quickly as we would hope.

Having bent a rim a few years back I will certainly be wanting to avoid that expense again and will be paying extra attention to avoid the land craters.

I'd love an extra long summer this year but I'm not very hopeful about an early spring. Last year, I brought the bike out of hibernation about a week from now. This year, I don't expect to de-winterize her until some time in April.

It's not too bad. I managed to get a decent lean a few times yesterday. Did fishtail once forgetting how fast the tires cool off though after pulling over for coffee.

We won't be able to ride consistently until end of April. We might be able to get highs of 10. But nothing more

I hope you're wrong; video games are getting awfully boring.

According to Jennifer Francis, a climate expert at Rutgers University, the Arctic air has warmed in recent years as a result of melting polar ice caps, meaning there is now less of a difference in temperatures when it hits air from lower latitudes.
"The jet stream is a very fast moving river of air over our head," she said Saturday at a meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
"But over the past two decades the jet stream has weakened. This is something we can measure," she said.
As a result, instead of circling the earth in the far north, the jet stream has begun to meander, like a river heading off course.
This has brought chilly Arctic weather further south than normal, and warmer temperatures up north. Perhaps most disturbingly, it remains in place for longer periods of time.

I have a CE of original D3 sitting in my closest unopened....if I got the xpac I'd need to buy the original as I want to resell the CE in hopes that it'll hit $1,000+ (WoW's CE is $3,000)

But yes, I suppose I could work out and study harder lol

so true. this winter destroyed the roads. i think the ice storm had much to do with this. there definitely a bunch of pot holes ive driven over that could do some damage to a motorcycle.
