[/h][h=5]BIG NEW ... the owner of icar system informed me that he no longer wished to hold motorcycle events in 2014. The reason that was given to me is that this activity is considered too dangerous. I continue to discuss the issue with him, but for now, it seems that in 2014, the activities will be limited to TRACKFEVER NYST to go ride in the state of New York. ... story to follow[/h]

that track is scary no run off trees everywhere......so funny its called nyst
Holly crap, I just did a lap on youtube and that track is ridiculously dangerous, why plant trees that close to the track is beyond me, turn one is a long one, imagine a low side at the end at high speed, those trees will be on you in no time.

As a wise woman might say; just don't go near the trees.
lol yea, that rates with phrases like "I am not going to crash today" not really 100% under your control, unless you are strolling around

they built the track last year, its really nice but scary. theres actually a ditch along the side of the track if your lucky enough to jump over it LOL

That's where they dispose of your body after you smack a tree at 200+

I was responding to Carboncat's comment on the New York track, I had googled ICAR and it is in Quebec

But you are right, not sure how we end up talking about New York instead

Can't blame ICAR for not running moto events. It has very little runoff in most places and the whole thing is armco barrier.

Only time anyone I know did a trackday there someone smashed into the armco sending the bike over the wall into someone's truck in the pits.

I wouldn't be loosing any sleep over not being able to ride at Mirabel, patchy concrete surface, and as n3wman said, the whole thing is armco barriers. One corner if you get it right your elbow almost touches the barrier...yikes. I do feel for Celine though, TF keeps getting smaller and smaller, not through lack of effort or new ideas to keep it going.

And yes ICAR is unsafe.....oh, and so is NYST, and MOSPORT, and Calabogie, and the new RDT track, and TMP.......

Really? How is TMP unsafe? Corner 12 is the only place where there isn't any runoff - the other turns have plenty. I've seen tonnes of crashes at TMP and can't remember a single time where lack of runoff made the accident a lot worse than it would have been otherwise.

Sure GB might be a little safer because of the lack of a pit wall near the track, but the difference seems small to me. What am I missing?

One time a guy ran wide right infront of me and he went sideways into the cement wall... luckily there were bales there, of course. The guy somehow stayed on the bike lol, but that is besides the point.

What I believe none of you are getting here isnt that its TF and ICAR its why????? Hmmmm a track ending bikes because its unsafe? Is it now more unsafe than say the past five years or however long its been in operation? Why now?
My concern from the first time I read it was is this the tracks decision or has the insurance companies pushed for it? Last year was the worse year in my almost thirty years of being involved in Canadian racing with three deaths. Two for CSBK (Mosport and Tremblant) and one for VRRA (Shannonville).
If the insurance companies are setting their sights on motorcycles (again, just like street insurance) how long before we are all effected? More tracks? More series or trackday providers unable to obtain liability coverage at a reasonable rate. That spells the end of everyones fun.
I have no idea what this is about but it is strange the way its being handled, dont even get me started at the Mosport fiasco.
I agree every track has issues and we all as riders make our own decisions on what we deem acceptable, but if there are no providers willing/able to host races/trackdays you may never be able to get that choice.
I find it freaking hilarious what people post about TMP now. Wow how times have changed. When I started SOAR and announced we were going to be at TMP I took TONS of heat (look at some old threads) . People telling me it was soooooooo dangerous and there was no way I could protect that wall. How dare I risk everyone......blahblahblah. The management at TMP wouldnt do anything so I designed a contained bale/bag system that worked well. The staff at TMP wouldnt move them for the cars and they were one by one destroyed so I redid them again in 2010 (again at my cost and using SOAR staff) this time I made a nice lowboy dolly for moving them hoping that they would save them this time. Nope. Someone burnt the dolly (found the wheels in a fire pit). In 2011 we were only there for three rounds and one of them reverse so I used the couple hundred bales I brought for the chicane to add to the wall to get us through the 2011 season. That wall hasnt been touched since and needed complete replacement at beginning of 2012. Now they run I dont know how many days there and NOBODY seems to *****......huh?
If they ever get out of power of sale and we return I will have to do that wall again before we can race there and you all should pressure them to do it now. That wall has bitten people in the past and will again.
Now back to ICAR conversation :)
