Another store chain to exit Canada

I remember going in to the LCBO with my Dad way back when it was the same way. Browse, fill out card, someone goes out back to get your order.

50 years later you still can't leave the store without the bottles being brown bagged.

Yep, I remember the same, back when it felt like you were doing something dirty that you had to keep a secret when you went to order a bottle lol.

This past summer somewhere down in the US while I was on my Tail of the Dragon trip this year I got chased down at the exit by a gas station clerk because I dared try to carry my 6 pack of beer out of the store without it being bagged.

Some weird state law where it could “corrupt a child who might see your liquor” or something back asswards he exclaimed while I laughed about it in tourist.

Gotta love filling up at a gas station and being able to grab a 6 pack. God bless America!

did an American costco run a week ago. steaks, coffee beans, crate of oranges , 3 cases of beer and 6 bottles of California red. say what you will about America, some things make sense.

The myth is real. Let's eat.

Dad always let me grab the change that came down the "chute" thing from the cash register. (that thing fascinated me...lol)

That would have been deducted from my allowance.

Friends and I were reminiscing about the change chute just yesterday.

I remember the wickets and barred windows, LCBOs looked like banks.

Dad used to call it the "fun" bank.

The demon rum, I remember that. No looking at the pretty bottles. The LCBO still won't let minors carry the bottles or cans. Once you're out of the store is it legal?

My wife barely drinks but likes the bottle shapes and colours. To her, it's a paint store for alcoholics.

That would have been deducted from my allowance.
Allowance? That musta been sweet?
As for the chute bound change......I didn't get to keep it.
But, those things spit out a lot of $0.50 pieces, a few of which the old boy kept.
I still have them.

I try to repair everything... I think my grandfather instilled that in me. One of my son's clients gave him a new in box 65" Samsung TV, it blew a backlight LED, they stuffed it into a corner for a year and the warranty expired. I'm gonna try to repair it tonight!
Same here. Also repaired my broken 70" Samsung this summer (faulty LED also).

Home Hardware seems to favor small towns and the one we have in Lakefield offers good prices and great service.

Never really liked Rona, poor service at the one in Lakefield (now out of business) and the one in Mississauga.

I'm not happy Home Depot will have less competition.

Was their last week looking for shopvac filters. Base 2 pack was $43 and fine dust 2 pack was $50. Took $50 pack and at self serve it rang up at $60. Store employee and I went back to bin and label said $50, so she gave it to me at that price + another $10 off for the hassle. Today, that $50 2 pack is $70............... Looked at the standard $43 2 pack and it is now listed at $50.

Then looked at the US price and numerically, without currency translation, they are about half the cost of the old CAN price. Someone is getting screwed.......

They applied scanning code of practice here. Works elsewhere as long as the follow it.

I got the TV apart and jury-rigged in a replacement LED, it's all good. I called a local TV shop looking for a replacement LED strip, they told me to order a complete replacement kit (all the back LEDS) from Ali Express. I guess these LEDS are time bombs, if one goes the rest are nearing their EOL.

I should have them in 2 weeks, cost $20 for the whole kit including shipping. Better to wait than do the repair twice.

I had to invoice him to get it. No blisters, no allowance.

Mom gave me one before she died, said it was lucky. Stuck it in the tail of the FZR. No crashes. Stuck it in the fender bag of the XR. No crashes. I’d stick it somewhere on the trials bike but there ain’t a hope in hell of me not crashing on that.
