Hi Friends,
I saw this ad on autotrader...
http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Honda/Valkyrie Rune/TORONTO/Ontario/19_4072876_/?ms=motorcycles_atvs
Since I was looking for this motorcycle, I sent an email to the seller through Autotrader for further details...There was no phone number...
This is the response I got from the Seller...Mind you Rune with this condition is atleast worth 14k.

Hello,

First I want to thank you for question about the 2004 Honda Valkyrie Rune. The bike is in perfect condition, no damage, perfect shape. It has all the papers and document and I am also the owner. The price is CAD $2,900 including shipping to your address (only in Canada). The bike is located in Canada but currently I am located in Roma,Italy, because I just finished the divorce with my husband and i have moved here to my parents for a while. The transaction will be made only through eBay vehicle purchase protection program also the payment will be made through eBay and only after you will receive the bike, I will receive the payment.
PS: If you are interested in buying it please provide me your FULL NAME and FULL ADDRESS & PHONE NUMBER so I can initiate the deal through eBay.
I will wait your answer (if you are interested to buy) very soon and i will also explain you all terms for this transaction.

Thank you,

Thank you for still being interested in buying my bike, I will respond your inquires, but first let me explain you how the whole process for this transaction will work:

The bike will be shipped from St. John's.
I want to tell you that we will use eBay in this transaction in order for both of us to be 100% protected and insured by them, eBay will supervise over our transaction. They will take care of the shipping (The bike is already at the shipping company with all papers and documents ready to be shipped) and all the small details. You will get the bike and you will have 5 calendar days return-policy in which you can decide if you will buy the bike or not. In the inspection period you can test the vehicle, go with the vehicle at your local mechanic for inspection, but do not put more then 200 km on it.
After your inspection period (5 calendar days) In case you won't like the bike (not your case) you will notify eBay and you will send the bike back on my expense, if you want to keep it you will also announce eBay, you will send the funds (payment method and all the details will be set up by eBay) and you will keep the bike. Please get back to me with your FULL NAME & FULL ADDRESS and PHONE NUMBER so i can forward your details to eBay in order for you to receive your purchase invoice and if you will agree with what will find in the invoice will go from there,
eBay will contact you with an invoice and they will explain you how to start this transaction all the details and instructions for this transaction will be found in the invoice and you will see this transaction is legit. If you will disagree with the transaction proposed by eBay, you can simply refuse to continue with the transaction and would be no problem, i still have a few offer's left.
Wait your reply

PS: Don't forget to send me your FULL NAME & FULL ADDRESS if you are really interested in this bike.
And also I will need them for further collaboration regarding the transaction and better explanation of the whole process!

Do you want me to tell you where she's from... originally?

Tried doing the same thing before and got the same answer...scam scam scam!!!

There's a million of these scams going on at any given time... if you're gonna post them all we'll need a new subforum.

Seen this scam over and over and over.... What I don't understand is why they keep doing it. Seriously, are people stupid enough to fall for this? Had a similar response when I inquired about an Acura NSX for sale in Autotrader. The e-mails ended after the seller said the car was in NYC and I said "great, I'm there this week on business, where can I see it?" :laughing8:

Anybody who eagerly, and without request, volunteers up information that they just got divorced, moved to Roma, Italy, and live with their parents - is a scam.

Furthermore, if you sent the same inquiry from a different email address, you'd get the same reply.

I used to mess with these people just for fun. It became boring after a while.

Send it to autotrader as a scam. I`ve done it 11 times now. It only takes 10 seconds.

Stupid question... how does this scam work out if you continue through and follow the scammer's instructions?

same way most scams work. they take your money and you get nothing.

You can play with it for a bit..I got one from a guy on an oil rig...I told him I was on a ship nearby and could come visit. Other times they say they are abroad...just tell them that you live just down the road and can you come visit. You could ask them if it's alright if you bring your friends from Interpol with you in the car too.

If you want to end it quickly, ask for a copy of the ownership because your bank wants to see it before you can get the cash.

I had one go all the way to i would pay cash on delivery. Funny, never got another email back. Same when i was selling my R6 a number of years ago. Guys building burned down, buddy owed him money, had it sent out UPS. UPS never brought me my money. Not that i figured i'd ever see it.

Really what do they do with your name and addy?
