I doubt it, one of his greatest weapons was that his opponents were afraid of him. Thats why Sonnen beat him up for the better part of four rounds in their first fight.

Chris wasn't afraid of Silva and didn't get thrown off by the nonsense Silva likes to do in the cage. Silva finally met his match and I doubt he wants anything to do with Chris in the future. Hes not big on avenging loses.

Also why would it be staged? The UFC had everything to lose and nothing to gain from Weidman winning the belt.

I think if Silva put in 1% more effort into fighting, and perhaps less into taunting (or, what I like to call, making it interesting/entertaining) he would've beat Chris no problem. He usually taunts, but he went overboard with it this time and/or got caught slippin' fo sho. And when you get caught slippin in the UFC, you get KTFO.

I enjoy the taunting - it makes it fun to watch, and he definitely had the skills to back it up. He was the Muhammad Ali of the UFC.

LOL at all his haters. I understand why people hate it, but at the end of the day it's entertainment! It's not a personal good guy/bad guy grudge match... all that hype and smack talk leading up to the fight is just for ticket/HBO sales...
 
Weidman said he trained with someone that mimicked the taunting Silva used in the ring.

Can't hold anything against the guy, he was given an opportunity and worked his *** off to make the most of it.
 
Anderson Silvia just didn't want the belt anymore. He didn't even care. Did you hear the after fight interview... pathetic.

He was just way too cocky and didn't care. Dana White still has him signed in on a 10 fight contract...
 
meh as much as I hated all the taunting, looks to me as if he wasn't even hungry anymore. If they were to fight again and Silva was to put more effort (even though he claims he gave it his all) I'd put my money on Silva. I didn't buy his speech at the end. Sounds like he doesn't want to fight anymore though.
 
If you have never stepped in the ring or octagon you don't know what's it like to get hit or to have someone take your will or your soul away. Anderson tried to get weidman to come forward swinging so he could counter punch. You are most vulnerable when attacking. Weidman wouldn't fall for it and got the KO, and getting KO'D , submitted or dominated takes your soul away. It might be gone for a minute or forever but it's gone.

The UFC absolutely has so much to gain with Weidman winning the belt. NY native. NY state is the only state which still does not sanction MMA. Now the UFC will try to pull the, hey NY, we have a champ from your state, you need to sanction it........

lol...Weidman of all champions isn't going to have politicians flocking to legalize mma.

The UFC lost millions potentially in the billions in superfights and huge ppv's Anderson would have generated with his remaining 10 fight contract.

John Jones is from NY, and is far more marketable than Weidman.
