And the award for Best GoPro Angle goes too...

My fav practical motorcycle mounts:

1) Spinning head mount: cons...how does it react at track speeds?
2) Chest mount: cons...interferes with the tuck
3) Rear facing break or clutch view mount

Intriguing mounts:

1) Heli mount: cons...track permission and loss of range causing failure or collision hazard, requires great skill to keep rider in the frame especially with no view finder.

2) Forward facing rear mount to capture track ahead, full body and bike...like a high trailing helmet type mount: cons...over elaborate rig that would interfere with riding aerodynamics.
3) Turtle mount at various corners: cons...track permission

Gopro + copter + motorcycle = winning!

Go Pro up one of those RC copters and have a buddy heli-film you on the track! Anyone know of a copter that can carry a GoPro load?

I thought about a quadcopter but I doubt the track day organizers would allow it as it's a potential hazard.

I've seen an early quadcopter implementation that will follow the operator based on gps when connected to a smartphone. At first, this seemed like an awesome way to have your own automated camera man but unfortunately the range and speed wouldn't be able to keep up.

The boom looks to be rigid, so I would think nothing would happen. Can the GoPRO use an external mic? If so, one could improve upon the design and get the mic off the ground so you don't hear all that pebbly, very-low-to-ground noise.

Yes, it can use an external mic but you need to buy the skeleton housing to get access to the mic port (or drill through the stock housing).

Best consumer grade spinner mount I have seen yet. Think I might be ordering one!

Better yet, a $10 hack mod...

Forget that $300 consumer grade spinner!

wouldn't screwing the wheel housing onto the helmet ruin the integrity of the helmet? but i guess safety isn't the point for this particular application

Those spinner mounts will look ridiculous on anyone... and makes for boring video "let's look at myself and not what I'm doing/where I'm going".

Ridiculous? yes! The angle needs to be just right to capture more of your surroundings. To the point where they might get in the way, or interfere with let's say a full tuck? The devil is in the details eh. I am also curious how it reacts at high speeds.

It isn't a question of angle.... the distance has to be greater to capture more of the surroundings (even if the camera is set to Wide). And too wide? Have fun avoiding the other cars, riders or street sights/trees.

It will probably react the same way as above.

I like placing mine on the swingarm... on top of the tank and behind the front wheel on the fairing are also decent.

Ha pretty neat. That's the first time I've seen that done in a riding video. He basically overlaid the tail cam video track over the nose cam track with partial transparency. This would actually be a useful technique for comparing multiple runs of the same road or track.
