Not sure of the scientific reason for each or which one is best for the run-in.
Either way, have fun with your bike - it is one that I have lusted for ever after the test ride that I took.
The only disadvantage is the cost of dealership service and maintenance. But it is a BMW and to be expected. All three dealers that I have been to, Maranello, Oakville BMW, Wolf BMW are pretty good.

pretty sure its ecu rev limited (or is that only the s1krr?) and he goes back in for a software unlock at a certain mileage

Yeah the rev limiter is restricted till first service which is at 1000kms. They unlock the rev limiter after that and the bike comes with a red color dongle that needs to be installed by user under the seat. That unlocks the Dynamic Pro riding more as well. For liabilities reasons apparently the dealer cannot install the dongle and it has to be me.

That's exactly it. Engines, no matter how advanced they are today, hard revving does put a pressure on piston rings and in the initial running in period the rings seat well if ridden carefully. Then there's the whole conversation revolving around warranty and manufacturer's finding it out thanks to modern advanced ECU's, especially in bikes like mine with ride by wire. I am going to stick to the manufacturers guideline for running in schedule for sure. Also gives me time to learn the maching better!

Exactly, the owners manual states you shouldn't keep riding in one specific RPM and engine load for long period and they suggest riding in twisties and mountain roads to vary throttle and rpm more often.

No worries at all with all these discussions, they are all valid points! Cheers!

Love that bike; I came close to buying one myself; decided to sacrifice 7hp and go with a multistrada after having 2 shoulder surgeries. Your gonna love it; stay safe.

So after what felt like a full year of wait, I took official delivery of my bike yesterday. I had never taken full delivery of my bike leaving her with the dealership for winterizing.

With all that's going around, we obviously knew it was not gonna be a typical delivery with walk around and all. I won't lie, I was looking forward to one being my first bike in this country and all. Hey but I am not complaining at all, rather very grateful for the fact that at least the dealership accommodated this in such challenging times and I was able to take delivery of my bike when the world is going through such tough times.

Wasn't much of a ride yesterday. Got her home, shared the great news virtually with all my friends over a zoom call in the evening and slept off convincing myself of a full on riding filled weekend.

Asked my Dealer on Monday, they said another week or 2.

Nice looking bike. Never realized you can get the M stripes on
