Drain it by disconnecting the fuel line... Although throwing a lit match in it would also work.
The fuel line will drain the gas out of it? and where is the fuel line?
•Remove the side covers (see Side Covers Removal in theFrame chapter).
•Turn the fuel tap position to the ON [A] position.
•Remove:
Front Seat (see Front Seat Removal in the Frame chapter)

Fuel Tank
•Drain the fuel tank if necessary.
○Arrange a suitable container under the fuel tap.
○Turn the fuel tap position to the PRI position to drain the
fuel into the container.
This is what i got from the service manual.
So does this mean that the gas will come out of the fuel tap? or do i take out the gas container it self and drain it somewhere. Then go to the gas station and fill up the gas container and secure the hoses on the bike?
It'll come out of the fuel tap.
But why drain it? Just run it through and use it, can't be that big of a deal.
Just ride the bike with the gas thats in it. Eight month old gas should be fine. With the all the additives that are in the gas these days, I doubt the gas will go bad in that short of a time period. If the bike runs fine with the original gas then I wouldnt go through all the trouble of draining it. (Just my opinion)......
