Ninja 250r Oil and Oil Filter

Does any one know where i can get these at (Amsoil 10w40 and K&N 401 oil filter)? I tried canadian tire and auto parts and service store, they don't carry them. I have no idea what other shops i could look at in Etobicoke or North York.

Thanks

He's an Amsoil dealer (in Vaughan) and can beat the CT price on Amsoil by a country mile. I don't know if he carries K&N filters, but does have the Amsoil, which are reputed to be the best around (they filter 98.7 percent at 15 microns). My local CT in north Richmond Hill does carry Amsoil MCF (10w40) and MCV (20w50) but.....pricey.

Which AMSOIL oil filter would you recommend for the ninja 250 2009?

Also i have about 3400 km's on my bike, is it okay for me to switch to synthetic?

I would not hesitate to switch to synthetic at that mileage. I'm tossing around the idea of changing to Amsoil at my first change (1000 km or earlier), but could be persuaded to wait until my next change. I looked up your bike on the Amsoil site, and no Amsoil filter is listed for it (they list the WIX 24941). Giovanni would be able to confirm this. If you are wanting the K&N 401, I would think that CT would be able to order it, since they carry K&N automotive filters.

I bought both the filter + oil at SnowCity @ Sheppard and Ellesmere. Filters around $10 and the oil is about $40 for 2 litres.

I just go to kahuna (Steeles - Westen Rd) and purchase the K/N 401 filter from them. I also just use regular Kawasaki motorcycle oil which I purchase from them. I asked the service dept when and if they recommend switiching to Synthetic. They recoomend waiting until put at least 5,000 km's on the bike. Apparently this gives the engine a proper amount of time to break in an engine.

I have approx. 10,000 km's on my bike and I just use regular dino oil (Kawi motorcycle specific). I don't know if there are any advantages switching to syntheic for our bikes. I can understand if you are tracking the bike and riding it harder than normal. But for regular use I doub't syntheic oil makes a difference other than extending the oil change intervals.

Just to throw this in, I have a add in the forsale section for the 10w40, i bought to much ill beat anyones price

I talked to john at pasco. And he said i could use the K&N high flow oil filter. Is it compatible with the 250r?

If using K/N , I use the K/N 401 filter. (2009 Ninja 250R). One good thing about K/N is that is also come with the the 2 o-ring type washers. The OEM kawi filter does not.

I find for my bike, the o-rings that come with the K&N are slightly oversized. The OEM Kawi filter doesn't come with them, but I think they're a dollar and change to get seperately ... you don't need to replace them every single change.

Parker Brothers used to stock them, I don't know if they still do. No Canadian Tire will stock them, but they can order them in fairly quickly.

Fits my bike very snuggly, had trouble taking it off last oil change. Are you sure u have the right model?

Call this guy - Joe , four one six - six zero two - six eight two nine.

I pay about $10 a quart and a case of 12 will cost you $120.

I have two K&N 401s that will never get used....your welcome to them if you'd like, I'm in Brantford.

i ended up getting it from passco on my way back home from work. got 2 quarts for 12 each. got a high flow oil filter (HF401). Apparently they make the same thing as the K&N, even looks the same. Came with both O rings. Also got a bottle of fuel stabilizer for my 8 month old gas in my tank!

On a Ninja 250, it is recommended to wait until 5,000 km before you switch away from the regular "dino" oil, or mineral oil. Kahuna sells this, and it's Kawasaki's M4 oil. I used this until 7.5k. However, this recommendation is purely based on hearsay, and I doubt you'll find any official material indicating this. So really, it's arbitrary.

Now, if you want to use synthetic, there is no reason not to use Shell Rotella T6. I've been using it in my 250 for almost 20k, and it works wonderfully. I change oil and filter every 5k, and the oil doesn't look too dirty. This last oil change, I've pushed it to 7k, so we'll see what happens!

I also use the K&N 401 filter. You're right, there are other brands that are exactly the same. Good filter, and it looks pretty clean when I change it. I could likely change the filter every other oil change, but for $8, why not?

I bought my oil from Walmart in the US. I stocked up at $20/gallon. I bought the filters from Bob Weaver's in Niagara Falls, NY for $8 a piece. I also stocked up on these.

Use the Amsoil if you want, but personally, I think you're spending more money than you need to. I would run better quality oil in a track/race bike, not a street bike.

Thanks for the input, i already got all the oil, and got the filter in hand. Just need to change it. Now should i wait until at least 4K before changing to synthetic?
