America's Cup 37

Historic GP tracks just don’t work with the new cars .
I understand things evolve in sport . If you hit 280 yds 25yrs ago in golf you were a Monster, now you wouldn’t qualify at most tourneys with less .
My personal race boat (40 yrs old now) uses sail fabrics and tech rope that wouldn’t have existed when that boat was built . But it’s not ugly . And we have beer holders , like a proper yacht .

It's not much different in clothing. Tasteful is subjective but it seems one has to look like a tramp or like they're wearing their pyjamas.

well the Brits are on a 173 yr loosing streak , why win now. Emirates should put Sir Ben back in his box and nail tghe lid down shortly.

New Zealanders giving sailing lessons.
3 to zero.
Race 4 coming up. Interesting the race stats favour the Brits....the outcome ...not so much.
🍿

The money the Brits have thrown at the America cup for 173 years ….. could stop hunger in Africa forever. But that’s not really the point of the America Cup.

Should be on Youtube now.
Six should be up as well.
Looks like we may have a real contest now. 🍿

Looks like I picked a good America's Cup boat to put up as a model in our living area. Gonna be a winning boat tomorrow after this. Damn 44 knots into a marker turn
Race 8

Sold our spare 55" TCL and that opened up a perfect spot for the big model.
We'd like to add a meter tall Saturn 5 model as well to fill the space.

Race Committee has announced a scheduled start time for Race 9 of 1450 CET.

That is sorta like NOW! 🍿
Think I heard the celebration from here. 🍾🍾🍾
A three peat...

America Cup racing is not tearing up thousand dollar bills , it’s blowing through 10 million per sponsor and you better have a lot of them . It may be the most expensive one event sport on the Planet . I enjoy watching it , the intrigue , outright cheating , tech advances and complete wastes of money make this a mega rich guy indulgence of the next level.

Do they need a prime minister? I know one who might be looking for a job. Lots of experience in blowing through millions.

A three peat is peanuts , the Americans owned it for 150yrs . Lost it , then took it back , then lost interest. Swiss will have it again in 5years . The Brits have been swinging at that hornets nest for almost 2 centuries.

Bag one of our America's Cup model - grinder and moves the sails - clever Lego.
This is the base it sits on and you crank the sails from via pneumatic tubes. It's well thought out.

Took about an hour and that was just a nice amount of time for one segment. Just under 1,000 pcs. Much fun.
Assemble the yacht and attach the 2 skin sails to create the authentic 3D sail shape. Test out the pneumatic function to pump up the hydrofoil cant arms – just like the team would on the real-life yacht. Admire the all-important foil wings, which provide the full-sized yacht with the stability, lift and speed needed to race at the highest levels. Try out the mainsheet controls and jib sheet then check out the rotating mast, which is supported by the rigging.

This boat building kit is part of a collection of model kits for adult LEGO fans and makes a great gift for anyone with a passion for sailing boats.

  • Authentic sailing yacht features – This sailing boat model includes 2 mainsail skins, a jib, a rotating mast, rigging, main and jib sheets, foil arms and foil wings
  • Pneumatic function – Use the pneumatic function to pump up the hydrofoil cant arms with this LEGO® Technic interpretation of the hydraulic method used for canting the arms on a real racing yach

Bag two ....a problem with the gearing on the pump...three out of four worked fine...the fourth just not would work smoothly despite a couple of rebuilds....not sure if it matters.
The part with the elastics used as pulleys just above the Toyota logo.
There are four separate rotating mechanism when you move the cranks. Only three rotate....the fourth slips. :(
