Am I the only one to own (much) more than one set of motorcycle gear?

Initially started off with only one street outfit: one helmet + one leather jacket + one set of pants + one pair of street boots. All black, naturally.

Leather is very protective, but summer is very hot!

So I got into textile + mesh gear. Now I had a hot weather riding outfit and a cold weather one.

Got into track. One piece leather suit + sportbike boots + armored gauntlet gloves.

Got into dirt. Bought a set of colourful pajamas and all the armor to go over/under it.

Riding sneakers. Armored kevlar jeans. Heated gear. Waterproof layers. Cooling vest. Over the years, I've collected it all.

I basically have every type of riding gear for every 5 degree window of temperature, all sorts of precipitation, all sorts of road surfaces, etc.

I believe I have more motorcycle gear than non-motorcycle clothing (if you count moto-branded T-shirts and sweaters and running shoes)...

How many different sets of motorcycle gear do you have?

I downsized about 5yrs ago selling off all of my coats and replacing the lot with a waterproof 3-season ADV coat which I love. At the time I had a mesh coat, a mid-grade leather coat, a schmantzy $1000 A* jacket that was too pretty and heavily discounted at dealer to pass up, and a leather cruiser jacket. I did add back in another mesh coat for the really hot days.
I don't have heated gear. I'm old and if it's that cold out I don't ride.
I still have my track onesie/gauntlets/boots although I haven't used it in a few years now.
Two sets of MX PJ's, one of which I prefer when it's hotter out.

Hm... that's another thread: "How much motorcycle gear do you own vs what you actually wear?"...

You're smart, you actually sell the stuff you don't wear. I have around 10 leather jackets that I haven't worn in years. Don't ride street that often.

And pants that I don't fit into as well.

I think I'm a bit of a moto-packrat.

I don't ever sell gear. Or bikes...

Living in Ontario and happy to ride all year I had decades of accumulated smorgasbord of gear to cope from the warmer and warmer summers starting even in June and extending to September and then cool and colder into to winter
Couple of helmets, multiple gloves, couple riding pants and several jackets.
Numerous layers underneath.

Fast forward to Australia full time.
Kept the C3 Helmet and the AFC convertible I took out west as easiest for photograhy.
Had bought some HWK gear - jacket still wearing but both sets of pants failed. (n) End of that experiment. The jacket tho has remarkable cooling for here and it's mostly white.
The forever old Joe Rocket mesh shortie jacket works fine here and I did upgrade the armour.
I brought my AirGlide 3 pants back to Aus - with my 55 lb weight loss they are rather oversized

When I came back to Canada to deal with my son's illness and death there was stack of his gear as well as my remaining cold weather gear to deal with.
Sold a few things and brought a couple of very heavy suitcases back to Australia 90% motorcycle gear including helmet, boots, armored shirts.
I wore Kenz' Scott 3 season jacket back on the plane. We had matching Scott jackets riding across Canada in 2015 that served us very well. Some sentimental value for me and for a few months it's cool enough here that the Scott Jacket is useful.
It's a really nice jacket and he's with me every time I ride in it and in all the photos I see everyday on the iMac.

It's by far the best jacket I own, full breathable Gortex waterproof and very comfortable but anything above 28C it's a sauna here.
I'd rather keep using for the few months I can and share the rides with my kid. 🏍️ I do miss him.

I need to come up with a display of some type for my garage so that I can put my helmets there. Between my wife and I we have 2 MX, 3 sled, 1 track, 4 street helmets. Nice if I could incorporate my track onesie in there as well. Maybe that'll be a winter project.

Hey I thought the point of owning a motorcycle was to have more stuff!

When I got the vstrom, I kinda felt I needed to get ADV gear, etc. didn't seem right wearing leather jacket and jeans anymore.

Until your thread I hadn't thought about the fact that I own 5 jackets.
I have textile for the street, some period leather for track/strip stuff and enough hand me down MX type gear to play in the bush.

I still have a well worn Bristol leather jacket that I bought in 1989 when their shop was on Lawrence Ave. I think.

It ALMOST fits, so I'm always hopeful but it has yet to leave the upstairs closet.

I still have the very first jacket I bought with my very first bike from McBride's (remember them?)

I get attached to good gear, especially jackets. When I look back on old pictures, it's nice to see the jackets in the shots and know it's still hanging up in the gear closet.

For some reason, though I don't wear old helmets, I also have a hard time pitching them. I have 2 that are more than a decade old that haven't made it to the garbage bin yet.

I used to buy a new piece of gear at least once a year but for the past 2 years I've bought nothing as I have pretty much everything I need.

One thing I've been thinking of buying is a pair of waterproof gloves, I got waterproof gear that keeps the rest of me dry, but nothing for my hands. But not sure if it's better to get waterproof gloves or glove covers like this: xlmoto

I tried to look away from this thread, but I am guilty. I wish I never discovered the Flea Market on AdvRider. I have an Aerostich Roadcrafter 1 piece, Darien Jacket and 2 Pants (Black and High Vis), Bristol leather jacket from 80's, BMW 1 piece summer suite, First Gear Kilimanjaro jacket. Difi Jacket.
Shark modular, AGV full face (just bought at the bike show). Numerous gloves, summer, winter, Gore-Tex,, but I go back to the Held Steves.
BMW all around boots, have to pitch these as they are worn way beyond. Falco are my favs right now, Gaerne boots (almost brand new).
Heated Gear: gloves, jacket liner, glove liners too
All bought used. Only things bought new are the helmets and heated gear
This has taken me years to amass, I have a problem.
Next subject, spare bike parts just in case......

A few years ago when I sold the bike and got into small classic cars, it was so liberating to jump in the car and just look for some ball cap or wide brim hat to wear. A couple of seasons go by and my wife suggests I get rid of some of the bike gear. Yeah, yeah, good idea. The hints continue, head nods of agreement. No action taken.

Glad I didn’t. Do I have too much stuff? Maybe. But, I’m always looking for more. Different helmet, footwear, gloves etc.

Now that golf bag I’ve lugged around since Covid and haven’t swung a club yet, I’m eyeing it up with thoughts of giving it away.

Did you end up getting another bike?

I'm a bit of a gear slut and it was making my closet too full, so I sold a bunch off a couple years ago and now I feel so much better!

I still have about 5 full sets of gear - one for daily commuting, one for long distance trips, one for very hot weather, one for short local trips and one for track.

I have:

Helmets
Shoei RF1200 (still good, but more or less retired)
Scorpion Transformer - old, but comfortable and I like it on ATV
CKX Titan (mostly used on sled, sometimes in cold weather riding)
Schuthbert C4 Pro - my goto

Gloves:
Milwaukee Leather shorties (around town)
Held Titan
No-name fleamarket winter gloves

Jackets
Technic 4 season (favorite, but only good in the cold)
KLIM Dakar (3 season goto)
First Gear

Pants (I dislike motorcycle pants - usually just jeans)
Joe Rocket Ballistic

Boots (wide feet and big calfs - hard to find boots that fit)
Wolverine Wellingtons. Love them.

I've kept a fairly good control of my gear (simply because I'm cheap):

1 mesh jacket
1 leather jacket
1 set of leather pants (thanks @matthew)
4 helmets (thanks @shanekingsley)
1 motorcycle
1 pair of boots
1 pair of rain boots
2 pairs of Kevlar jeans
3 pairs of gloves (2 summer + 1 cooler weather)

In the end I use all of it, except the helmets. I threw out my old BELL helmet but don't see a need to get rid of any others.
