Alternative Hardware?

I'm rebuilding/customizing an old 09' ZX6R and wondering if there are alternative parts or even similar hardware to secure this taillight?

OEM parts are almost $30 for just 2 rubber grommets (10X20X12) and 2 sleeves/collars for an M6 bolts!. The oem bolts are $7 for a pair but thinking maybe they can be sourced Home Depot unless they are fancy machine threads or something?

I found something similar on Aliexpress but much thinner and appears to be hard rubber:

Thanks!

If you have dimensions, 3d printer and tpu gives you the squishy piece.

Are you using led lights or incandescent? If using less, I would probably just use the Ali kit as they are more vibration tolerant

No 3D printer but something I'm looking at next year. Parts website lists as "Damper 10X20X12" so I'm guessing those are the approximate dimensions. For now just to get my bike going, I'll give the Ali kit a try maybe then since it's an LED integrated tailight.

Not what you want to hear but a pair of scissors and an old inner tube could maybe made to work. Cut out enough "washers" to equate what you need.

I might need to modify the grommets from Ali anyway so may have to do something like this! The ones from Ali are hard rubber and doesn't seem not thick enough to clear the lip of the taillight unit. But they seem cheap enough shipped to be a good base to work with.

Look like standard 6mm fairing grommets. Amazon, $12 for a handful.

That was the wrong photo, it's actually a bit thicker and spongier:

But yeah, I'll give those aftermarket fairing grommet + collar kit a go. I may try to thicken it up to match by gluing on some "ring sections" from some other rubber material. Way better than spending ~$30 but 2 pairs if not just out of principle...

My opinion may be unpopular. Just buy the correct part, you'll only need to buy it once.

IMO for a one-shot deal, buying the correct parts puts an end to all worries about whether it will fit or work correctly compared to a makeshift solution, and saving $30 isn't worth an hour of my time figuring out how to do it. The screws are not an issue, those will be M6 x 1.0 whatever length is correct (probably 25mm) and those can readily be obtained from Bolts Plus.

I recently had to swap front turn signals on my nearing-140 000 km ZX10R because the mounting bracket for the left one finally broke. (It has been cracked and wobbling for years.) I found that made-in-China copies of the original European-market stalkless front turn signals were still available, found some that shipped from North America so that they wouldn't take a month to get, but they arrived without grommets. I pried them out of the OEM turn signals and reused them.

An M6 washer will do.

Hey remember this - Getting old sure beats the alternative.
