I know it sucks that I didnt...lol j/k this thread isnt what you thought!

This morning I had to travel for work, so figured I would take the bike for a nice ride....outside of my building there is a stop sign that more often then not I have rolled through....this morning I slowed up but clearly didnt make a full stop, just as I continued I looked to my left and saw a cop sitting right there, watching for people rolling through...he looked at me probably at the same time I was cursing inside of my helmet...

I am super super glad I was wearing the hair down today, pretty sure he just let it slide...YEAY! (No pun intended) haha

Cops do give female riders a free ticket... Anyways, what is legally considered a stop on a motorcycle? Must you put both foot down and then proceed? or can you just balance the bike and look both ways and then proceed?

often they look to see if you put a put down as indication that the bike stopped. BUT a lot of riders can balance their bikes full stopped... so then you would have to prove it somehow in court if you get a ticket

I like hair waving from under the helmet too. CSS. ;) :p

I've been practicing this a lot.. almost got it but my bike is stupid heavy :(

Left foot down, right foot on the brake. Not sure about 'legal', but that's what they teach at the M1 exit course.

Legally the vehicle has to stop any forward motion. Realistically, yeah the cop probably looks for foot down as an indicator.

Once you get into the habit of stopping without putting yer foot down, you have to try really hard to think to put your foot down again. :snorting:

I do tend to look around for a cop when I stop without putting a foot down. I have caught myself though with not putting a foot down when I've had to stop for longer than I thought I might have to and wobbled badly before getting my foot off the peg. If I see a cop I put the foot down just to avoid the arguments.

Legally (IIRC), either foot down (or both down if you jive like that) is kosher.

I won't put my foot down if my 6 is clear, otherwise I put it down as a clear indicator to the person behind me that I intend on stopping.

I got nailed fit one of those once. Couple of etf guys watching the stop sign lol. As they were walling over, one guy said "you can't give a ticket to a gut on a bike!" So I yelled out "I agree with that guy!"and it worked lol. Started asking about the bike, couldn't believe it was a 250. Cool guys though

Sounds like you got lucky....(well I hope not actually for your sake lol)

The reason for the left foot down and right on the brake is so your brake light stays on but you can still get the hell outta there if the need arises (as explained by RTI). Once stopped, your Hand comes off the front brake.

I don't understand why you think my hand comes off the front brake when stopped. It stays on the brakes until I'm going again. Or at least the two fingers that operate the front brake stay on it until I'm going again.

I think you would have to learn to ride first instead of crashing :0!
Krashasaki was severely disappointed with this thread.Hey KawasakiGal, I'd like to get rid of that "almost" in your thread title, if you know what I mean? Maybe on the Krashasaki, should add 10 HP after nailing a girl on it!
