All the cool kids are doing it!

You should also do some research regarding your dog and NZ.

NZ being an island they may take a similar approach as the UK .Probably have a long quarantine time for animals, the UK used to be six months.

I'm actually dealing with that right now, and the expression of interest for immigration process as well.

They have a scoring system that they pull candidates from on a bi-weekly basis, scoring in the 140-200 point ranges are selected first,, then 100-139

My professional experience scores me in the high 170's as in an industry of immediate demand and future growth and my visa applications are done under the skilled migrant category(I've gotta spend money to prove I can speak ingrish though)

Quarantine period for dogs is 10 days(she'll be quite unhappy about this)

First and foremost, congratulations and good luck with everything. I've been considering selling everything and doing the same while travelling on a work visa.

Second:
I've been the director of IT for a marketing company for 13 years
Hmm...what marketing company? And are they hiring? I'm always looking for work to fill my off days or stack days when I'm already working. I have about 4 years of experience in promotional modeling and experiential marketing (everything from logistics to management). LMK! :D

10 days that's pretty good.

My cat wasn't too happy with the move from the uk to Canada. A couple of weeks in quarantine then getting hit by a car. Spent a small fortune getting him fixed up, always joked that he wasn't used to cars driving on the wrong side of the road lol.

I got offered a job in New Zealand......but I didn't like the idea of sheep as my nearest neighbours.

Shouldn't the hobbits be staying away from him?? :-D Have a good time Recipe. Take care.

Wasn't he short enough to be a hobbit?
I shouldn't be talking, I'm not the tallest one out there lol.

Enjoy it dude, I'm jealous!

I just need a month for the next season...

Congrats and good luck! Please blog and take tons of pics:). Be safe out there.

All the best Donny.

Damn, where am I gonna get my tires from now? :(

I don't know you but I'm jealous. I think it's a great thing you're doing and more people need to gets the balls to follow their hearts this way. Congrats and be safe.

quit and see what happens.

That's what I did,, I didn't ask for the exit package, they offered it when I said I was planning to leave.

My plan was to go to work for myself but with the exit package, I have some time to work on that, I have enough of a client base to pay for my must have bills here without the exit package, now I can double dip for a while at least. I'm planning to keep my house etc here until I figure out exactly what I want to do and where I'm going to stay.

My biggest concern is my dog,, she's REALLY old and I don't know how she's going to take to traveling that kind of distance.

Not the best advice ... he will probably get fired, real quick with two weeks notice .... LOL Seriously, I don't think there's many companies who will give you a 24month salary package at the time of you contemplating a resignation. It's just not in the best financial interest of an owner, board whoever. Consider yourself very very lucky.

You should have enough to buy a land next to the Cameron dude. I bet he needs a motorcycle coach .... now think of it, maybe not ... :)

reciprocity, congratulations.. Can I have your old job? I have never heard of any company in any field ever giving out a 24 month salary package let alone for a resignation and not a lay-off. Thats a gift, I'd say.I love seeing people muster up the courage to take a real adventure. The world is too big and life is too short to just rot away in the same job in the same town for your entire life. I am very happy for you as I think this will probably end up being one of the best things you ever do in life.. Lots of people saying they are jealous here but ultimately, if you have the drive to get out there for some adventure, there is no reason you can't follow suit.
