Aliexpress

Has anybody bought off this site before?

I'm looking to purchase this item, buying from aliexpress is 2 or 3 hundred less than amazon and canadian moto companies

When buying from Ali, assume that it is a fake and you're probably correct. On the tiny chance you don't get a knockoff, count your blessings.

When buying from AliExpress make sure the seller has Choice Guarantied Delivery checkbox.
Without it you might end up waiting for months receiving fake tracking info and going through dispute for money refund. Refund works and no problem just a huge waste of time. Speaking from the experience :)

And obviously there are no real brands items there - everything is a copy for fraction of the price, some of them better than others.

Spent more on there in the last year then i care to admit.

Everything has been as described so far. Like GG said, I'd expect a knockoff and not the real thing but...model specific parts have fit extremely well and no complaints about build quality so far. /shrug

The item in the link has gone up close to 200 bucks on amazon the last yr, GP bikes has the silver one on for like 450 or so last i checked but want close to 600 for the all black box. seriously what gives? it's the exact same box only a different colour

It's $550 now. August 6, it was $450 on amazon. They are just playing the variable pricing game. Right now it is increasing by ~$3/wk. The last time it was under $400 was april 2022.

The thing to really watch out for is the shipping. They will hook you with a low ball price, then have a huge markup on shipping. But if you keep looking around you can find the exact same product with shipping included and decent price.

Bought a few things from there so far so good, other then the site isn't as great to use as others. I usually compare the items there with similar stuff on amazon.

I bought adjustable and folding clutch and brake levers from Ali. They seem really well made to me, and way, way cheaper than the Rizoma/Pazzo/Evotech options which I cannot imagine are much better machined if at all. They work fine.

The Aliexpress bike stuff seems to have a lot of branding/bike model names on them, but since my levers are hidden behind handguards, it's fine. If my bike was kitted out all around in that stuff it would probably look a little garish.

Bought a folding gear shift lever also; it looks great and works just as well as I could expect.

Also bought carb boots for my CBR600F project; they worked just fine too.

Since I lost all the plastics for that bike in a fire, I was considering buying a set of plastics on Ali, but not sure if I want to resurrect the project as I lost so much other stuff for the bike as well.

I've bought quite a lot of stuff there over the years. The only thing I was ever ripped off was on what was clearly a "too good to be true" situation where I totally expected to not get what I ordered, and ended up getting nothing at all in the end, but to the sites credit, I did get a refund with little hassle.

Lots of other stuff, arrived with no problem...surprisingly quickly as well.

Avoid numbered sellers, IE "seller04958848328" accounts without any feedback as they're often fake. But there's lots of very reputable ones out there. I've bought thousands of LifePo4 battery components there in the last year for different builds.

I've bought a $hitton from there...i have a 95% success rate in receiving items. But you can also get refunded if you dont get it after like 2 months.
But ive built basically 3 drones with parts ordered from there, delivery time would be between 1.5weeks to 1 month max normally.

When i'd dealt with them in the past (pre covid and during covid...) it would always take a month to get stuff.

EDIT) i've probably boughtt for $500 worth of stuff this year along i think, i separate order going from like $20 to $100

Interesting note on shipping - I just receive a lot of things I bought during their 11.11 sale. All “Choice Guarantied Delivery” sellers - All arrived in about a week, it appears now their Choice service has local independent delivery company called “Apple”, non-Choice will go trough Canada Post - something to consider during current postal services strike..
