Albums that are cool

I have recently been listening to music that i never gave a chance to when i was younger, and it has me looking for more.
back in high school, we would get high and drink at parties and it was the usual music, ACDC, KISS, Def Lep, Motley crue... typical 80's hard rock

Now i find i love tojust sit back and mellow out to some good riffing tunes, and concept albums, eg: Pink Floyd, The wall, Animals
Rush-2112, Mother of Invention stuff.

what do YOU listen to ? What are the wicked concept albums that I am missing ? What are the Cool Jammin Songs ?

when I mean Jammin, itsd the 10 minute Songs, with guitar solo's and drum solo's Good Tokin tunes.

Rush's latest release, Clockwork Angels is one of my favourite albums. The live concert Blu-ray for that tour is incredible.

Pink Floyd's PULSE album. The extended solo on comfortably numb is hair raising.

Check it out on youtube. Comfortably numb - earl's court (10 mins)

Although his later stuff is tired and repetitive (to me anyway), Alan Parsons early stuff was pretty inspirational for the time - Tales of mystery, Pyramids and I Robot. He has a good background having been involved (as producer or engineer) of two of the top albums of history - Let it be and Dark side of the moon...

just a a caution as well, Parsons, from what I've seen over the years is one of those "love him or hate him" type of artists...so, to each his own...kinda like Tangerine dream, but that's another story...

The Alan Parsons project was very good, also Emerson, Lake and Palmer was very good.

Cygnus x-1 book 1 and Cygnus x-1 book 2 are probably the best from Rush.

ELP...yes! Brain Salad Surgery was a really good collection.

Legend
Blue
Harvest
Prince-Ultimate Collection (great tunes on the bike)

Dire Straits-Brothers in Arms

Electric Light Orchestra
....and as already mentioned, any Pink Floyd.

So many choices! I love 60's/70's prog rock, but I'm kinda tired of it so lately I've been checking out some old school folk, bluegrass, and even country but mostly stuff from the 50's.

Nothing conceptual mind you, but the roots of the music I like.

btw, YES is currently touring and they're playing Oshawa and Hamilton early next year. They'll be playing a three-album show. Worth checking out.

Oh I'm sorry, you said "albums."
Now moving along...

Pretty much anything from TOOL. "Undertow", "AEnima" (a particular favorite), "Lateralus" & "10,000days". Yes I know there are more releases but these are the core and I think you will really enjoy them in the manner you wish to listen to them. I know i have.

hey, try the album 'tommy' by the who, and 'thick as a brick' (full album, not just the shortened song played on the radio) by jethro tull

Most of the stuff I'm listening to these days is background smooth during my work day so forgive me for not reaching into the Zeplin pool.

Not sure if it counts as a "concept" album on which much of their entire collection is based, "Wish You Were Here" (remastered) continues to make it to the top of the pile.

Also, "The Turn of a Friendly Card" has many spins.
