Ok folks, I experimented with the nanny state Ajusto Ap on my iPhone. It's kinda neat. It's kinda scary.

I drive and ride a lot so, I wanted to see just how I score or rate according to the ap.

The best score you can get is 100.

I average 76.

Lose points for speed.

Lose points for distracted driving.

Lose points for moderate acceleration.

Lose points for moderate braking.

I score well with driving smoothness.

It keeps track of the number of times I drive without touching my phone. Best streak is 11. Admittantly, those were many short trips. I have to touch the phone on long drives for music as it doesn't fully integrate with the car.

You can indicate which trips were done as a passenger, taking public transport, walking, riding motorcycle etc. those trips don't register a score.

I'd never use it to try and reduce insurance rates or report my driving to the insurance company.

Just wanted to see what tech the nanny state has and how it works.

It does make you think about how you drive.

I've removed it from the phone after a few weeks.

I don't want to know anything about this lalalalalalalalakalalalAlaLalalala..........

I can't believe people actually believe they will get a better rate using this.

My Mom has one of the car devices that plugs into the ODB2 port, she saves about $250/year, which is a 20% discount, because of this... but she is 76 years old, barely drives, and drives slow.

You know the savings will evaporate over time and then the non compliant driver will be extra boned. It's as plain as day. But that's always the way it is, a little short term gain for the hook.

This.

The parameters they apply, specially acceleration rate are actually dangerous IMO. If you stay below their rate on many on-ramps you will be merging well below the rate of traffic, which is very dangerous.

I would never. Ever. Wanna raise my rates for how I drive? You better catch me doing something wrong, then prove it in court.
Anyone who is willing to give up their rights and freedoms to potentially save a couple hundred bucks is nuts in my eyes. The slippery slope folks-this is how it begins. They test and see how comfortable we are handing those rights over, and they test to see what it will take to have us do it complacently- in this case, a couple hundred bucks I guess. Not me.

I like mine not the app but the device.... Of course I Go Train to work so my car is my car isn't driven during commuting hrs or high risk late evening periods. The fast acceleration is bit low in my opinion but another 10% on top of the 5% to use it on what we pay in Ontario for insurance is not bad

So if soneone does not use the car for a whole month, the maximum savings are 25%. Sure it can't be 100% because of administrative costs, fire and theft insurance, but 25% is bull.

^This.

I drive and ride however the fack I want and I'm responsible for my actions.

You better catch me doing something wrong, then prove it in court ...and still you won't see me handing over my rights.

So using the device only extends further discounts to my account which was already the best I could find. If my driving profile has a lower risk than the average why shouldn't I be compensated. The industry penalizes me for my postal code so this allows them to customize the premium in my favour.
