Advice needed: Fun to drive car for $25k?

I'm liking the Accord idea personally... came across an 06 Black/Black 6sp coupe with 150k for $8000. Seems like a good deal and would be a reasonably fun car to drive for a minimal investment!

If you want a 4dr, the manual trannys V6s were only offered up to 06 or 07.

If you go coupe, you can get a manual V6 in any year up to 2013.

Kia Forte Koup SX bro. SX is short for SEX bro!

Ahaha well that was funny.

Imma suggest subaru.

Even if its just a WRX, more tame, still fun, no huge wing and prolly easier to find in the range youre looking for ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNND youd have money left over for MODS

LOL @ LePhillou - Always worried that previous owners have beaten the hell out of the WRX though. Tough to find one that hasn't been abused!

Lease return one maybe?
and its a legit scare but thats a scare that comes with most 'sporty' cars...
good luck in your search. i might be getting another one this year myself to replace the impreza... and i still wanna stay in the suby family! (leaves me with the Legacy GT or Forester XT...older models)

I have a white Evo MR with about 31,000kms.
If that interests you than PM me....
Hasn't been abused at all, she's never had in SS mode, used the paddles, or even broken traction with it.
"mature woman driven"

The WRX's are less likely to be abused then the STi's. Well at least that seemed to be the case with all the ones we looked at. Pretty much every STi had been modded and either left still modded or they had been returned back to stock. If you bounce the 08-09 STi's off the rev limiter you have a 50% + chance of needing an engine before 100,000km. Its hard to believe but it's that cut and dry. The stock ECU programming allowed them to run lean and detonate at the rev limiter causing the ringland's to crack (piston). There was a TSB to fix this but it really only seems to be a band aid.

If it's had a programmer on it at any point the check sum on the ECU will show this and SOC will deny any power-train warranty. All that being said in the Subaru world there are specialty shops that fix these issues which in my opinion seem to be inexpensive costs.

^Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to keep my eyes posted. B5 is fixed and will be on kijiji this weekend. I'll keep you all posted on the test drives!

The accord is not a fun car to drive, not even reasonably. STi, or the new Toyobaru thingy would be my first choice. I tested 'em both recently, and while I'm partial to the pure driving experience one gets from the little Toyobaru sports car, the four doors on the STi could come in handy for sure. Both great cars, I would take either in a heartbeat.

I'm still driving an '01 4-cyl sedan with 185k.

I bought it used in '06 with 55k kms on it. In that time, I've done limited suspension work (front shocks, front upper ball joints, rear stabilizer links), a clutch, an airbag computer, a few brake jobs, and only one set of new tires (apart from snows). The exhaust is original, the aircon still works, the body still looks good. It's never broken down except for a flat tire.

For what it is, it's not a bad driver's car. There is body roll and it understeers (I run so-so all season tires), but it has an OK chassis. The mid-range of the 4-cyl is decent and the manual tranny still shifts great. Relative to the other 4-cyl mid-sized cars, the Accord was more fun to drive and had more power.

It's in no way as fun as an STI, an S4 or a 335i but I have to think it's in a completely different ballpark for operating expenses. I'd drive it anywhere tomorrow. Sure I'd love a cooler car, but it's hard to part with a $3k car that I paid off 7 years ago that could last another two years.

Anyways, what I'm saying is that if you get an Accord, you probably won't have the same sort of issues you do with your S4.

What about a Subaru Legacy GT Spec B? Probably won't be too many around but I think you can find one in your price range. You get that turbo goodness, and hopefully without the abuse of many a wrx.

Subarus & Mazdas were unreliable cars when i was growing up. I guess that did not change

Sent from my Phone, dont judge the grammar

I've got an 02 wrx that's been putting 270awhp out since it hit 70,000km. I've had to change the turbo/upipe/boost controller. It's now got 213,000km. Oh the car came with 180awhp and it has all stock internals.

Or just the plain old Legacy 2.5GT. Quick, good handling, and not a total boy racer car. Drinks a bit of gas but fun to drive.

A friend had one and he loved it. With an up-pipe he had about a low 14s car.

Would be great to find a 5-spd turbo Legacy wagon.

How about a Pontiac G8 or GTO? They go like stink, plenty or room, V6 or V8 variant, RWD, and there's manual versions around as well. I drove the Holden version and its a whole lot of fun for the money.

The Accord isn't bad (I own a 2006 V6 6MT coupe), and can be quite fun with some suspension work & good rubber. With that said, yes anything that is RWD will be a lot more fun, and that's the one reason why I'm considering another car myself in future. I was looking into both the 370Z and BMW 335is a year or so back, but then I got into bikes (so a 600 is the next purchase) lol.

For me, fun to drive means what other people think about the car.

Imagine pulling into a social meeting in a POS: what others think about you, not so hot.
Then imagine pulling in a nice car: what others think about you, pretty hot.

Signed the papers for a 2011 Infiniti G37S Coupe lease transfer on Saturday. Should have it in a week or so. Car is essentially brand new with 23,000 km and has the 6 speed transmission. Very well cared for and an attractive deal since the owner is moving to the states for work!

Thanks for all the advice, really appreciate it!

Sweet! G37, they sound amazing too, congrads!
