Adding a fuel gauge to a bike that doesn't have one..

put a "t' fitting in the gas line and run a clear sight tube maybe into the center of steering stem

The easiest way to to get a gas gauge would be to sell your current bike that doesn't have one and buy a bike that does.

At that point you will find out how inaccurate the factory gauges can be.

Just run out of gas in the middle of nowhere a couple of times and you'll never forget to reset the trip again. It worked for me. :D

I did see that some GPS units can act as a fuel gauge.
Buy one of those and you are set.
IMO You just need to get in the habit that when you turn the key off at the gas station to press reset on trip before you get off and start pumping gas. It sounds like you are creating a lot of work and potential issues for something so minor.

^ +1. It's the kind of thing that once you start drilling holes in your tank, and few thousand dollars later, you'll wish you had imagined some other problem to fuss over.

Thats exactly what I was thinking of but didn't want to recommend on a bike! Simple and effective. Hell I thought it was an antenna at first until I noticed it getting lower. First time flying was in that plane around Guelph.

I'm absolutely loving the responses! Some of them made me chuckle.

Yes, this a completely unnecessary thing to do and I just wanted to explore that possibility. And Yes, this is also time consuming but if a good solution were to be reached, I would imagine a lot of our fellow riders would be interested.

+1 to everyone's contribution so far!
