Nice.. I'd have to spend a lot of time just scheduling a speed test as it would involve kicking off a bunch of devices and turning off QoS. I know my usenet downloads easily go over 2.5MBps :P
 
I think its only forced rental unless you manage to buy a modem from an outside source.

From what I've read, apparently the $8 /mo modem rental fee is mandatory even if you supply your own modem. The BS reason, I'm told, is that Bell can't guarantee your modem is up to date with any configuration changes they make on their network. This bothers me too but unfortunately there is no other option if you want a decent upload pipe.

Update: Acanac finally acknowledged that I want to leave them. They said they can cut my service immediately. But there will be no refund issued. Of course, they closed the ticket again and told me to reply if I still want to quit. So, still waiting for a date.
