The Knox armoured shorts have great padding that covers the tailbone.

I don't think royal carries Knox, really not sure. The padding is more of a thick rubber than a foam. Are these sold at Royal Distributing? And is its hard padding or foam padding?
I cant find it on the GPBikes website, where did you guys get it from?I don't think royal carries Knox, really not sure. The padding is more of a thick rubber than a foam.

It has the standard bionic back, but also has the hard plastic chest plates A* uses in their top level suits and has additional kidney padding (as minimal as it may be). This thing does not budge and stays in place when you are tumbling across the track.
And also offers complete protection for your chest. The seprate chest plates are better than nothing but for optimal protection I would look at a one piece chest plate. I highly doubt any of the top riders use a two piece. The A* stuff is definatly not an upgrade from your forcefield equipment. The mesh-style A*'s stuff is pretty rad, I might upgrade to that soon. But for now I have the Forcefield chest and back protector. VERY comfortable and durable, it's a little bulky but it isn't thing plated plastic either.
plus it looks good if you wanna ride with only the vest on on hot days so thats a plus.
Granted, but there are some people who prefer that.no it doesnt. it looks douchey.
its practically useless without something to protect against rash.
Rash?
depends who's rash/where it came from... sometimes it could be worth it.

+1
I've been looking at one of those compression style upper body suits to wear under my jersey since my current torso protection doesn't cover my shoulders, elbows or fore arms. Most of the ones on the market are not ones I will be considering since they have a zipper right down the middle.
I want to know that the force of whatever I hit will be distributed across my entire chest, not just one side of it, or risk something hitting me in the middle where there is no protection. I've landed chest down on the end of my bars (bike was laying on it's side when I came down on it) and I wasn't wearing a chest protector... I still have the scar across my chest.
I wear this (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/6/10/15869/ITEM/Thor-Motocross-Impact-Rig-SE.aspx) and I love it because it has all my protection in one piece.
