A* Track Vest

Hey guys I am just wondering if anyone else has gotten this vest? Nothing but good reviews online but I want to hear it from people who use it for other than racing.

I plan to use it for everyday riding on a casual afternoon/evening ride in my area. I do plan to wear a jacket on top most of the time, but like on a sunday I might just go with only the vest. I want something with this kind of styling and protection, I just feel the foam plates in the front wont offer that much protection. If you own this, can you tell me if you feel safe in this? Or if anyone has any other suggestions for a chest/back protector that I can wear freely without a jacket on occasion.

Thanks

Is the ****** vest referring to the Icon Field Armor Stryker Vest or the one i posted up top? Why does it have that title?

Because everyone here is a ATGATT police. Anything less than a full out Power Ranger suit is douchey.

Regardless of AGTATT beliefs, how does 'track' and 'vest' fit in the same sentence? lol

^^^ am i missing something?Could it not be worn on the track? We wear backpack style protectors, why not a vest?

That's actually pretty cool, if I were to just wear a hoodie on a short jaunt I'd slap that on.

Course it's never a short jaunt on the bike.

I would imagine under a bike jacket, that thing would be pretty uncomfortable unless you have a loose jacket (which you shouldn't have anyways). Don't think that would even fit under a leather jacket, aren't those fitted tightly?

Adding just a standalone BP under my textile jacket already bulks it up quite a bit. I can't imagine even wearing a Stryker Vest underneath.

IMO chest protection is the last place I would consider

when you go down, there's no telling which way and in what way you'll be sliding. It's not always the back you'll be sliding on.

I wore my stryker vest under my leather jacket and it saved me last fall when I ended up sliding on my chest.

The one WESTBZERO posted can be used for track. Unfortunately you probably won't find many reviews here due to it being an "order-in" item, no one in the GTA stocks them.

WESTBZERO: I'm also looking at the one you posted, and deciding between that and the Bionic SP Vest (not the jacket, vest only). The difference is the Bionic is a mesh vest (hopefully cooler in the summer), and the chest protection is hard with foam instead of straight foam (debatable on which is better, hard doesn't aways equal better). The good news is both vests, you can strip down all the protection and wash the vests. I'll keep you posted with any findings I may have as well.

p.s. the d-vest is still pretty hot in the summer time under a jacket due to restricted air flow from the chest. And I think the new SS (Spped & Strength) vest may have taken the d-vest title from ICON because the SS one lights up :)

One thing that would steer me away from wearing it on the track is the lack of protection for your sternum.

Personally I'm looking at either getting the Atem or Celer jacket and adding in the bionic chest panels (already have the back protector) vs wearing something like this on it's own or under another jacket -- but then I am very much AGTATT myself.

I don't wear a chest protector, so I'm just trying to understand why its so far fetched to use on track???

Am I missing something or is he just talking ****?

imo it's because if you ride to your limits on a track you'll likely exceed them at some point...and personally I like my arms attached and with skin & muscle on them. I can also understand wearing less gear to go grab a quick coffee, but can't fathom wearing anything less than leathers & armour if I was going to be flat out on a track.

Also don't a lot of tracks require full leathers with a 360 zipper or 1 piece? I forget where I read that one but I recall seeing it posted somewhere.

No organizer or rider would go on track with just a back protector. It goes UNDER your suit, just as a backpack strap style does. This is why I questioned how come it isn't suitable.

Does it have pockets? I need somewhere for the gas key!

This is the video that helped me decide.

I ordered this vest from GPBikes for $214 with tax using the GTAM20 promo code + its free shipping since its over $100.
This is something I plan to wear under a textile armour jacket and no this thing does not have any pockets on it.

It's not, wear whatever you want. I was just adding my .2 and my reason for wearing a different product. I never wore a chest protector till this year and now I won't ride without it (street is different, I don't do it, it scares me). I would rather wear one that is going to protect a vital part of my body instead of having a zipper there for convieneince.
