How Ironic is it, that just when you decide to put extra driving lights on your bike to become more visible someone takes you out! When you ask what where you thinking, they reply "Sorry, I did not see you". :unsure:Granted the old coupe has a tiny back window and basically two tiny round side mirrors, but i could see the people through the mirrors from where i was sitting behind waiting my turn to go right when he backed up.

Location was Oshawa Farrell st north, left goes to bloor west, right goes to bloor east over bridge to 401 West, straight puts you on the 401East, we were in right lane to go over bridge, later i found out he was from Trenton and thats why he backed up because his wife was telling him he needed to be in centre lane to get on 401 East not right lane which would take him over bridge to 401 West.(there is a little concrete divider between centre and right lane to prevent a last minute switch, so you have to back up and go around it) Unlucky me didn't stand a chance cause he backed up like he was the only one there.

Knocked me and bike over and destroyed my fairing, bike fell on right side. Lots of scrapes and plastic being what it is all my mount broke. Rode home with it all taped up and flapping in the breeze. :cautious:

So much for my efforts to make myself more visible.o_O

Lesson is even when you think your safe, your not, we not only have to watch for them pulling out in front of us, (left, right turns into our lane) blowing stop/traffic lights, cutting you off, drifting over centre lane, but add backing up while waiting for them to make a turn in front of you cause they changed their mind and don't want to go that way:confused::confused:

looking for 2007 kawasak ninja 650r front fairing parts, mainly left side middle and lower, if can't find hoping kawi dealer can get, phone monday.
Was able to salvage with pan ties other pieces, older bike so i let them off with just replacing things i cant fix easily with my decals or, drawings.
Nice older couple with a beautiful Ford Coupe coming from the car show at the lake.
Meantime, gotta tape her up, cause work tomorrow.

Why are you looking for parts? Seems like an insurance claim (or is old guy cutting a cheque?)? I guess without video or an independent witness, insurance will probably screw you.

Glad you are ok and the bike is probably just cosmetic.

Now you need a horn upgrade. :D

If someone is backing down on ramps, it might be time to stop driving the beautiful Ford Coupe.

Your right i could of screwed the guy, there was witnesses, but he was old and had a nice hot rod that his insurance would of gone through the roof if he put in a claim, I took pics of his licence, insurance and ownership. I then assessed my bike. It was rideable, 1 broken part beyond repair, some bent stuff (rear brake pedal etc...) lots of scrapes, but i tattooed my bike awhile ago, with my drawings and homemade decals so easy to replace and add to cover up damage.

As for me less than a millisecond to react, no time to blow horn, no time to bail. I'm rolled with the punch.

He has agreed to cover cost of fairing and brackets that are toast and i was good with that.

I try not to hurt the world and i was never driven by greed, I mostly try to do my best what more do you want from me????

Its cool you're being all sentimental and ****, but what if you have injuries?
Thats not so easy/cheap as fairings

Sometimes you can get a hairline fracture, think its nothing, and later SNAP!

Very happy you are OK. I would recommend checking with your doctor and scheduled follow ups to make sure nothing you cant see/feel yet isnt brewing.

Try monsterfairings.com for replacement plastics.

Thankyou i will check with monsterfairings.com, i had full gear on, but will check in with the doc non the less.
Thanks for the feedback.
Getting those extra driving lights on right now, be done in time for the morning commute:D
Bike cable tied and taped back together, nice and safe.
Good to go(y)

I found Monster Fairings web site to be unbearably slow. I'm looking at Kings Motorcycle Fairings for my bike. They've been pretty good at returning all my questions by email.

Glad you are okay OP ...I usually worry about getting hit from behind but the principal applies...don't pull close behind a vehicle - leave yourself an out to one side or the other so your front tire is outside the vehicle you are behind.
Good luck with the jigsaw puzzle repair.

Looked into Monster and Kings, Kings was cheaper by a couple hundred dollars, although both sell entire fairing package and not individual pieces.
So i'll call Kawasaki Dealer and see if i can just get the mid left fairing piece alone.

After jumping from the roofs as a kid, and doing tons of other stupid stuff, hairline cracks were definitely not one of my priorities. But cracked fairings - ouch, that hurts!

Kings sell individual pieces when I inquired recently. But the shipping cost is the same, if I recall. Also, their colours may no match the factory OEM paint, so if you want it to, you need to specify "OEM red paint" or something to that effect. Best to email them, they have usually replied within 1 business day. This is their fitment guarantee, so also check if your kit is injection molded:

How well do the fairing kits fit?

For all of our injection-molded kits, we guarantee a 100% fit. For the few kits that are compression based, they often require manual modification in order for them to fit correctly. Therefore, we cannot guarantee 100% fit for compression based kits and all sales are final for these models.

I thought i'd post an end to my tale, i got a quote from Kawi dealer for OEM centre cowling, i then sent copy to gentleman that hit me, he in turn sent me an e transfer for the quote and extra to cover my inconvenience. So all in, i am glad i handled it the way i did. I can use the extra money to get a distro for my electrical system:D:D Also clean bill of health(y)(y)

Good result. I've had that process go well before and had it go poorly (if their name includes Roman numerals they are a rich entitled dbag and it will be a huge pain to extract the promised money).

I didn't have as much luck - hick backed into my bike on street, promised to pay for damage, then stopped responding after couple of days... I should have been a jerk, and just call cops...
I'm trying to be a better person, and not be bitter about it, after being more than fair to that hick... Such is life, I guess...

Don't hope for 100%. I changed my Busa from orange to white, fairings were easier and cheaper than paint.

After doing a couple of these, there are a few things to know.
  • Fairing pieces are not all interchangeable with oe. Gaps, curves and interlocking tabs don't all line up, some are different size and locations, particularly the small trim parts.
  • They are not bolt on, you have a lot of drilling and filing to clearance holes for grommets and fasteners. You will probably need to make some shims too.
  • Screw bosses are not opened, they need to be drilled to fit screw fasteners that hold small trims and lights.
  • Paint will not match, both color and quality.
If your bike has heat or sound insulation, you have to buy that then cut and fit.

The Ninja 250 took 4 hours to clearance and shim, the Busa had way more parts and foil backed heat shield was required , it took about 12 hours.

Used ebay fairings is the way I'd go. Colors will match and all you need to do is bolt them on.
