I wonder if import duties are much higher in Canada compared to US. That could account for a much higher price in Canada compared to US for the same product brought from china.
A "good" deal or buy Canadian.

I like to support local dealers but when I'm looking at a savings of several thousand dollars my patriotism kind of dries out.
The Canadian reps for the manufacturers need to figure out a way to get better pricing to us if they want their dealer networks to survive. I won't get the piddly 1 year warranty if I buy from the US? Who gives a damn.

Unfortunately I've been finding, lately, that most dealers/accessory places have declining stock, while the prices are on the rise. When I go to a bike shop I want to SEE what I'm going to be buying, try on gear, etc.. I don't want to be ordering something, sight unseen. Having visible stock is the only place that a brick-and-mortar shop beats the internet.
In the last couple of years I've been told that something I wanted didn't exist anymore (ordered and received it in 2 weeks, from the US, directly from the manufacturer), had to wait the better part of a month to receive a couple of bolts, waited roughly 2.5 months to receive the mounting kit for a luggage order (bought additional mounting components and another box from the US, which I received in less than 2 weeks, for maybe 5% less than Canadian price after shipping), have had to special order bar ends for a model and make sold by the same shop, and it goes on and on....
