747 crash caught on video in Afghanistan

I cant imagine the 60 seconds for that crew before the bottom.

Condolences to their families

Well, the latest is that they were carrying 5 army vehicles....that is a lot of weight, and if one of them broke loose and moved, thats 20% of the cargo shifting its weight. This comes from a member on another board who was at the army base the plane took off from.

crappy...

i find this one to be worse simply because it was 100% human error and totally avoidable.

I work directly with loading cargo planes. I actually build the weight and balance on jumbo jets on a daily basis. This hits home an makes me realize the seriousness of my job.

FYI every container has at least16 locks so load shifting is rare. At least at my company.

Who do you work for? 16 locks is pretty general. ULD3 usually has three locks on each side and rails on the orher two. Apparently they carried vehicles. Any money the skid didnt move but the straps broke.

Looks like 5 up armoured Oshkosh M-ATV's (32K LBS each) were in the hold.

Those are put on cookie sheets (subfloors) and strapped pretty much everywhere...
