5500 km, would be oil be finished? or something worse is happening...

I read that in my 2011 600rr manual and after 8,000km said no way this is right, going back to 5,000km oil changes.

Lol, those old thought from 1980 are really stuck in some heads This is 2012, technology has increased, I change my oil every 10 000km and it run fine. I change my oil in my car every 12 000km and I,m hitting the 200 000km's mark! It's your money, keep feeding the big oil compagny.

PS: I'm talking about normal riding here, so if you ride your bike like you stole it, then you're right.

Nothing special about oem oils.

Well you're not gonna tear your motor apart right now if it may not be needed. Change your oil. Then go out and see if you can duplicate your
symptons. That brand of oil did NOT cause that to happen. And I doubt your bike has any problems, you rode 5500 kms in 7 days its YOU that
has some problems

I am not so sure about that. I tried some other oils and went back to OEM oil. The bike didn't shift right on the other oil. There is no way for you to really know if the OEM adds something else to their oil to cater to the performance of their bikes. When things aren't working you have to go back to basics.

I tried Motul 300v in my 08 R6 but it made the shifting so clunky and the gears whined. Switched back to Motul 5100 and it was back to her buttery smooth quiet self!!

Google "slipping 2nd gear" and start down the checklist. Could be a number of things but it sounds like it's popping out of gear and then going back in.
