4-day work week

I recall talking to an Amish farmer in Ohio (Nice riding BTW) and asking him why it was OK to use a gas or diesel engine for a generator or implement but not another use.
His answer was that they looked at what it would do to the family. Over mechanizing eliminates jobs within the family and working off the farm breaks up the family.
While a four day week is appealing to me (4x10 or 4X9) and three off does it increase profit for the industry?
Who benefits more, the individual or industry?

You’re likely right but I will say I’d rather work 4 longer days and have 3 off.
It is obviously very dependent on your field of work.
