I haven't had a street bike in about 4 years, so not sure who people are using nowadays. State Farm and TD were around the same at about $1200/year. I called intact (I think) and they had a price showing of $850 a year but said they wouldn't insure me but really wouldn't/couldn't explain why. I was hoping to get it insured for under $1000. Is there another option other than state farm for an SS these days?

Try TD MM if you are a professional, alumni or otherwise qualify... even though I'm a student they are giving me the best rate by far

EDIT: Though I'm not riding an SS...

Somethings odd there from your SF quote.

I'm around the same age on an 07 CBR RR and live in the country and i'm at $720 for the year.

I'm paying over $1200 with SF for same bike. 30+, 2 minor speeding, long time G license, only insuring the bike.
My buddy has a '06 R6 and pays about what rbjeepthing is paying but he also has his car insured with them.

Yeah i assume you have your car with them as well. If i brought my truck to them the rate would be like $700, but they want 60% more than my current insurer for my truck. No savings to be had as we get a good multi line discount having 2 vehicles and our house with belair

i found this to be the same experience with state farm. discount on bike, but more than double the price on my car.

i used to have my cars with belair, switched to johnson and saved some good coin.

They probably still don't insure SS's but it would be illegal for them to refuse to insure you. Other companies just give you a crazy quote to turn you away *cough* like a 16 year old w/ an SS trying to get insured by TD.

I'm the same 30+ R6 and pay the same at this. I did a lot of looking and SF was the only one that was at a decent rate. All others were over $4000.

Skip everything. You need to make two calls, and I'm 99% sure you'll get the best rate from one of them.

First things first, Open Road Insurance.

Get an online quote, if you like the number, call them, give them the quote number and you're good to go. Otherwise, try Desjardin. Desjardin is by far the best for me and most of my friends, I'm not sure they care about whether or not it's a super sport or anything like that and they don't ask you to switch anything else if you don't want to (though they will give you even more of a discount).

I'm sure you'll find something that works with these two insurers. Good luck!

Currently yes all insurance with them but last years policy was for my bike only. It's actually lower then $720 now pretty close to $600 for the year. They were more on our cars by $60 for the year compared to Belair/TD. Obviously just proof everyone's case is different I guess.

Weak s#it for Open road, Over 30, clean record, full GM license, on a 12year old 600SS = $3,290/year

Edit: Open road actually just goes through Aviva and John Duffy.

probably the fact that he has had no street bike insured for 4 years... because of the lapse in insurance they're probably classifying him as a noob again

There is no such thing as a newb in SF's eyes. (Unless you are under 25)

I pay the same with my full M as I did when I walked in there with my M1 I got that day.

State Farm classifies motorcycles as recreational vehicles, so continuous insurance isn't required
