299 in Victoria driver CHARGED

Ya saw it on the news last night. He's 25 years old and the bike is registered under his mom.
 
They knew it was him within days, but knowing and proving in court are two different things. They charged his mother to try and pressure him, but apparently he didn't really give much of a damn about her. Judging by his appearance, he's living on the wrong "Shore."

I hope he gets the book thrown at him.

I don't see the big deal, nor do I understand how they managed to track him down, nor why they would waste police dollars and time on this.

He didn't hurt anyone, he was in full control and never at any moment did he do anyhing outright wreckless that put anyone else but his own life in danger.

If he hits your car he's going to die and insurance will fix your **** up, that's what insurance is for.

Why do they even make bikes go that fast if we can't ever go that fast? It's like putting a table of blow surrounded by hookers in front of me and saying I can't have either and then arresting me when I give in to my temptations

You're certain he's not putting anyone's life in danger but his own? A 300 kph, 400lb missile striking a car can do a lot of damage.. actually

I'll be happy to help out my kids with their cars as my parents did for me. I'll also do the same for a bike my parents did which was make me stand on my own. This has the added benefit of them having to be older to afford it, and hopefully wiser.

He wasn't doing 300km in the downtown core. At most the speed differential was 200kmh, he only sustained 299 for breif moments and had there been a collision it would have been into the back of a vehicle. Don't know about you but I didn't see any 1931 model t's with the rugrats sun bathing on the rumble seat.

Hope they throw the book at this punk, give him some serious jail time, repossess his mom's bike, and never be allowed to own/operate a bike again.

An acquaintance of mine from high school did something very much like this in 1992ish. He was doing 150-180 km/hr on a SS on town streets over a blind hill and hit the back door of a turning, almost stationary Honda Accord. He spun the car around 3 or 4 times according to witnesses, and his front tire made it through and out the other side of the Accord. Luckily there was only the driver of the car and he hit the backseat, otherwise anyone in his path would have also been killed. As it was she was seriously injured for 4-5 months.

Now, that being said, its different to broad side a car versus hitting it in the crumple zones in the back. Those cars were probably doing 100-120 kms, and this guys average speed was probably 250, so it would really really hurt a car to be hit from behind at 130 kms/hr but hopefully no one but the biker would be killed.

It's a dream of mine to one day have a highway all to myself and my SS. Back when they opened the 403 between Brantford and Ancaster sections of it were paved and waiting while they made the final connection at the Ancaster end, and 4 wheelers and dirt bikes were so prolific that they started putting up barriers on the longer stretches.

Oh well, I guess it will have to wait until after the zombie apocolypse.

Well considering he didn't have a license at the time, it's the only way that he could ride.

At maybe 100 Kmh, in town, you can get this sort of result. Something like what is depicted in those pictures happened near the Flying Saucer, in the Falls, back around 2000. If you hit a car that's doing 100 Kmh, then it's like hitting a wall at 200 Kmh. That's going to kill you and, quite possibly, the person you hit. The rear window isn't made of steel and you don't exactly stop moving.
