2023 Suzuki V-Strom 800DE

V-Strom................... parallel twin

They managed to make it even uglier, and 800 doesn't sound "mid-sized" to me.

Bad news for Suzuki they are competing directly against new Honda Stransalp. So far it beats Suzuki in each area, except probably fuel tank capacity which IMO should be more than 16.9L on Honda..

Would you still choose new P-Strom instead of bullet proof Honda?

A lot depends on price. I wonder if Suzuki will drop both 650 and 1000 VStroms.
TransAlp a nice outback bike for buddy here.
I suspect the two are purposed differently - think the TA against the Tenere 700
The 650 Stroms were pretty bullet proof too with the exception of the stator - and Honda had issues with that as well.

Issue I feel is that it’s too close in engine size to the 1050 strom. Most manufacturers have a larger spread between models like a 800 and 1200.

That's always been the complaint against the DL1000. I test rode one and the power-to-weight ratio was not significantly greater than the DL650. Not enough to justify having that much more heft to carry around corners, let alone in the dirt.

That would be quite the surprise to spring on the market: a flagship ADV Goldwing, a la R1250GS/1290SAR/1200 Explorer

I do kinda like the looks and think in-person it’ll be quite nice. RMZ motocrosser colours which imo are some of the best.

It looks a lot like the old DR Big single in profile at least in the front.

I kinda like it. It seems to me it's aimed differently than the Transalp, more in between pavement focussed and off road capable.

It's good to see a variety of models in a segment with a range of price points, specifications and focus. Something for everyone who would shop for an ADV bike.

Too late. If somebody wants this class of bike, they probably already own a ktm 790 which came out in 2019.

The Motobob video mentions the DR styling as well and I agree. If you watch the Eicma videos for Suzuki they look to have a pristine 90’s RMX in the background which is pure awesomeness.

I can’t get over the KTM styling of the 790 ADV, I dislike it too much to ever buy one. I’d take this new pstrom over it any day.

Didn't notice the RMX, will have to watch again. I had a 94 and loved it.

I agree about the 790/890 styling. I think the Norden is essentially the same platform but is much easier on the eyes.

37 lb heavier than the 650 but more power and features. 70 hp vs - 84
I can't see them keeping the 1050. Much more off pavement feature set.

Might actually be a old DR. One video shows the rear fender and another shows a partial side (this shot has the "DR" on the side). Of course all-yellow with blue stickers.
