Some people have money for new vehicles, boats and renovations. Somewhere in Ottawa a politician is thinking "How do I get a piece of that?"
Not sure what politicians think about it, but we took the money we would have spent on a trip to Italy this year and put it into an old boat instead (Limestone 20 for anyone who knows/cares). I grew up in and around boats, but it was a week at a cottage this summer with a rental boat that sold the wife. Our assumption is that European travel may be off the table for a while yet, and if it does come back, or we end up being in that majority that doesn't use it as much as planned, we can always sell the boat (likely at a loss, though we did get a decent price)...
We're definitely not alone, and add stupidly low interest rates, and folks are buying toys like crazy. We 'only' spent about $15k on ours, but as anyone who knows boats knows, there is
always a more expensive one, and it doesn't take long before you get into mortgage territory. One seller was talking about a 20 year payment plan. Yeesh.
Add parts shortages (outboard motors have been hit particularly hard this year) and reduced supply has met increased demand.
the 22 is very impressive for sure. I'd say best in class. Styling is a little bland, the rest of the car is quite impressive.
It's actually grown on me in person. The old one was wilder, but over time the cheap details (fake plastic vents!) became more noticeable. This one is better built, and the sales pitch details (laser brazed roof panel, sharp character line, etc.) really do hold up. I particularly love the interior, with the continuous honeycomb panel hiding the vents. It's much closer to a premium car than the old one. My only gripe is the hood panel gap at the front, which shows a lot of rubber gasket and looks dirty very quickly. It's less obvious on darker colours, but still a bad detail...

found it interesting that they put the Accord turbo 1.5 into it which seems to be a better overall engine, instead of carrying over the Civic 1.5T from last gen.

25-year-old me would've been hunting for tuning parts to exploit the engine's potential. 44-year-old me loves the mileage and reliability of a bone stocker. I don't even mind the CVT, which varies revs just enough to not sound drony....
