2020 Season -- Will the pandemic end it?

Oh so CSBK was a CMA FIM thing, but not any more and now the only series riding FIM sanctioned roadracing is Manitoba. Is that correct?

Interesting! This poster is labeled as:
"Cover of the original program from 1980. Photo: Mopar CSBK"

 how come I don't see Mopar or CSBK anywhere on that program

Well Terrific! Now we know all kinds of stuff about the CSBK series organizers and all of the volunteer work those guys have done over the decades to contribute to what started out as a CMA motorcycle race series.

The CMA was the Sanctioning body but I don't believe they have ever put much financial support into roadracing. They have always seemed to prefer to support dirt related stuff unlike the AMA in the states.

Well let me tell you how easy it really is to start a CMA racing series,
:I you send about 400 bucks and an application to CMA outlining your desire to start a club, then you are the guy doing all the work to make it happen. Then once you submit your event schedule CMA will have you collect about that much again to cover the event sanction and insurance costs. If it is a National event they will provide you with one 1st. place gold medal for each class at little to no additional cost.

Sounds like most stories I've heard about CMA. Give us your money and you do all the work for us.

Are you happy now, Billy?

Yes. And sad, too. Wonder where the pressure was coming from, cuz I didn't hear any around here:

-------

“There has been pressure to make announcements sooner, but ongoing developments with the COVID crisis means it is very hard to predict how summer will look in terms of spectator events,” continued Fraser, who covered the very first CSBK National as a journalist in Edmonton back in June, 1980.

------

Some cause for hope, though:

-------
"CSBK will make further announcements as more specific information becomes available from local government and racetrack staff."
-----

And a LOL here:
-------
"Professional Motorsport Productions (PMP), organizers of the Canadian National Superbike motorcycle road racing Championship series (CSBK) have confirmed a variety of updates related to the current global COVID-19 pandemic."
-------

Who knew we needed PMP to "confirm" COVID-19 updates that were never made by PMP.

I mean, really? Thin is the line betwixt tragedy to farce.
