2020 MotoGP Discussion (NO LINKS)

i was wondering, They green light MM and then cal and rins. Lol I feel that MM said fuckin green light me or else, lol. Cal and Rins are like Wtf MM gets to race we want to race too.

Solid performance by the Top 3, and you could see Marc's significant inflammation after the end of Qualy as he left the motorhome, its pretty bad and the decision made by Marc/HRC makes the most sense.

I kind of would like him see take most of this season off to completely recover as those are 50 points gone and the title seems to be a Yamaha duo as Petrux and Dovi are no where.

right choice
plenty of time in his career to heal up and carry on

and he shows a ton more class than the team manager

"Whoever wins this year deserves it. They will have more points than the others and have earned it."

Marquez said "something changed" that forced him to withdraw but didnt get into specifics.

Yamaha looks strong but bagnaia and oliveira are showing well.

That MotoGP race was brutal - that hot weather really took its toll on man and machine.

FQ wins again. While it's obviously good to win 2 races, MV finished 2nd in both, so looks like we have a good championship battle so far.

Yamaha 1-2-3 (good) but seem to have an engine problem though - first VR last week then FM this week.

Heartbreaking stuff for FB - his bike failed where he was pretty much a lock on for the podium.

Oliveira's great qualifying showing was nulled out right away by a bad start, and then binder took him out, and that was that...

Good day for TN - 4th place. Great result for him. He's getting a lot out of that year-old Honda.

KTM and Aprilia both had disappointing days.

I know we're in an exceptional year because of Covid, but running Jerez (very southern tip of Spain) in the heat of summer is really hard on everyone.

Moto2: Italian podium sweep, though I think EB winning was the most surprising. But he's a solid rider who has shown to win races. Can he do more?

Moto3: Another typical Moto3 mashup, but TS was well positioned the whole race - solid, deserved win.

MotoE: I don't remember who won (DA) as much as I remember how sloppy that race was - lots of crashes, and brain fart moments by riders. I think MotoE's format is wrong - if the races are only 1/4 the laps of a motogp race, qualifying should be more forgiving than a superpole format. If you muck qualifying, you stand very little chance of winning - there's not enough time to get to the front. I'm guess it's a function of battery life, but motoE should be a longer race. They have to find a way to make that happen.

Small Funny moment today: vr46 teammates crashed congratulating each other on the cool down lap. They both fell, hugged, then got back on their rashed up bikes and headed to the podium.

This is the something that changed:

Inflammation flared up during qualifying.

It looked horrible as he was coming out and that does look really bad, the Yamaha guys are going to take this year's championship, there is no point coming back for Marc this year if the championship (I highly doubt he cares about coming in 2nd or below) isn't a real possibility so its best if he just sits this one out. Which would suck for Alex, but he seems to be getting better and there is always next year with hisb LCR ride.

As for the race, so many events, but Alex Rins and Cal are the unsung heroes in this one.

Well deserved victory but I think we were robbed of another fight due to Mav falling behind. This is what I was hoping would happen with JLO back on development and its alread paying off as it rewards a smoother, high corner speed riding style. Mav is way more aggressive so it hinders him in such a sweeping track, especially when he's behind late braking riders even though he does well in R-handers.

In After the Flag: (NOTE: I am paraphrasing here) Apparently Rossi has been wanting to change the bike, but Yamaha has been reluctant to, presumably because MV and FQ are succeeding on the bike. Apparently, they did make a change for VR and it helped him.

It really does show though that for each factory, when one of the riders is performing well, all the others have to adapt to that setting. The feedback of the 2nd+ rider is not taken as critically. I am sure now that FQ's feedback is taken more to heart than VR's.

Championship leader is on a bike with a ticking time bomb for an engine. Could end in tears.

In other news, someone at Yamaha must have sent Quatararo to Media School since last week. His post-race interview was much more polished (and cookie-cutter): Analysis of the race + thank the manufacturer and the team + no F-bombs...

Rossi gets my vote for best post-race celly. He mounted the tire barriers and celebrated with an imaginary crowd. When interviewed about it, he laughed and said he just had to do it .

Yeah, the Yamahas are in engine trouble already:

are they allowed to repair/rebuild any of the allotted engines?
anyone know?

My understanding is they are not allowed to open them up. If there’s an issue with the motor, they must swap it out for one from their allocation.
Once they use up the allocation, each subsequent engine means a penalty to the rider (starts next race from pit lane).

And this is why MM will be anxious go get back in the races. A pit lane start or two and Yamaha's grasp on the championship won't look so firm. MM will want to collect every possible point he can because it might be a tight championship by the end of the season.

That's a really long shot, and while I'm sure Marc is eager to be back on the bike I think he knows that he really doesn't have a rival when he is fully fit.

Fabio and Mav are doing well now, but had Marc stayed on that bike in Jerez in Race 1 it would have proven that nothing really changed (which is discouraging) this season and he could storm from the back if he needs to. I like that aggressive Marc the most, and I hope he plays the long game with this injury because to ride that way he has to stay healthy. He dominated last year, and that was incredibly boring for the most part and once in a career was enough, so I want the Yamaha guys to be able to get better in the meantime and if that means Marc sits out the year then so be it. He has 3 more years on a contract at HRC and has the entire Team behind him.

Yamaha engine reliability has been an issue this year, that's for sure, but also consider they were running in near 60c track temp, that will no longer be the case for the rest of this season. Misano is in September and while it can get hot in ER (I worked there) its not Andalucia in July hot, either.

Taka just showed this massive blister on his foot from after the race, that must have been really awkward having to ride that way, but it got him P4 and says he is now getting support from the Factory so it was probably worth it. Considering that was JLO's old bike, the one that made him retire from the sport it was so difficult to ride, so its an immense moral victory for him.

...deleted... submitted a link, but requires a subscription...

Jist was that VR46 was ready to retire at the end of the year (he was feeling very low after the first race), but his podium finish has him reconsidering returning again next year.

Assuming he comes back, he'll probably end up at Petronas (even though they don't really want him), but there's a small part of me that would to see him back at Aprilia.

Damn, Marc just posted his before and after of his arm, he has 12 screws holding the bone in place and if his riding on Saturday created that amount inflammation he's better off waiting until it heals, and the screws/bracket comes out and does some proper PT for it and strengeths the shoulders for next year as that looks pretty damn brutal injury. I know Dr. Mir is the best in the business, and his reputation definitely precedes him, but for whatever reason the way those 3 angled screws hold the fracture in place reminds me of some the most creative-absurd patch jobs I've seen on some hotel furniture in some of the more sketchier places I have stayed in.

I'm sure it will heal in time, so there is no point in rushing that for a title that requires so many back-to-back races in such a short period of time if the goal is to match/beat Agostini instead of just surpassing Rossi.

so HRC saw this

then let him do push ups and get on a GP bike?

someone should be losing their job over this
