edit: actually, that's not all
why is a guy that's 6 ft 9, and has bulked up a lot
perimeter shots are not dropping
still relying on finger rolls in the paint?
I love the guy, and it's a great draft/development story
but he needs to go strong to the hoop
has the size/talent to go over defenders and draw fouls
oh man.... what a last few minutes. Giving up that layup in the last second, everyone thought they were toast. a hail mary basket keeps us in the series.
I am under no delusions at the moment though - something is off with this team - Siakim in particular. He's not playing at an all-star level that we need him to if we want to advance.
I was listening to american media after the game and their general consensus (albeit rather bombastically) was that boston played poorly, toronto did everything they could (look at VanVleet and Lowry's minutes - they both played 40+) and still boston almost won... assuming this the case, then this reinforces the Siakim point above.
been thinking lately about the Small Ball game
emphasis on 3's
and how the traditional center is dead
used to watch a lot of NBA back when TO first got a team
game sure is different now to then
you know Shaq is the last center to win MVP? 20 years ago
the days of feeding the Big in the paint are gone
I know Siaken ain't a center, but there are times when he plays the Big
and I wonder why we see him attempting 3's so often?
he is much more effective in the paint
lots of reading to be done on the Jordan Rules and how that changed the game
