2017 MotoGP Silly Season

Agreed ;)

There are and have been many with potential, but seems like you need to be in the GP system these days to land a ride on a bike capable of winning. That's fair enough honestly. I really believe Jonny Rea could have been a winner given a full season or two to adjust to the GP bikes and circuits, that said I'm glad he's sticking to superbike; probably the best move for him and WSBK alike
I wonder what's going to happen to Sykes next season, honestly i think he will be in contact with some other teams, perhaps Ducati?

Poor Spies. Somehow Mat Mladin snuck in and got a job as a mechanic in his garage...

I had high hopes for Spies. I think he's the better American to come to MotoGP in a long time, even with Hayden during his Repsol years. I remember the hard fights on the yellow anniversary editions Yamis. The laguna seca crash is definitely Mladin with the the sniper rifle :)

On a championship bike too. Was he injured during his 2nd season on the factory team? His results were noticeably worse in 2012 than 2011.

Bike was haunted. Or sabotage. Or something. Because I've never seen such a string of mechanical failures happen to one rider ever.

Ran out of gas one race too, IIRC. When does *that* ever happen in MotoGP?!?

Crutchlow @ Motegi comes to mind.. also aboard a Yamaha. I seem to remember them having the most issues with fuel when the tank size was reduced.

On Spies, Lin Jarvis outright said he wouldn't have hesitated to keep him, even after the disappointment of 2012, probably because you couldn't fault him for 95% of the problems he had that year. The bad news for Ben was one VR46 wanting to come back, and as Jarvis said "How do you say no Valentino Rossi"

Same guy said Pedrosa signed for Yamaha...

Nah, he usually just reposts others' supposed breaks.

David Emmett was the first I saw report Lorenzo was FOR SURE going to Ducati, and is normally sure before he writes it in his articles; he hasn't done that here, nor was he the guy behind the Pedrosa story. He simply tweeted the rumour was circulating, and in this case was actually just responding to someone else asking him if he thought this story had merit. His Twitter seems more personal chatter than legit journalism. But if he comes out in the next few days and says it's official, believe him.
