2016 Honda RC 213V-S

The only superbike that gets me excited these days in terms of the full package for looks, technology, etc. Too bad it's so expensive.

Reminds me of the Ducati MotoGP bike. Sure it's great and all but what do I care. If I had the disposable income, talent and time to use such a bike I'd be all over it. I think the best that comes out of this is that some of that MotoGP tech eventually makes it into a CBR. Until then, I'll enjoy all the moto journalists on youtube riding it around. :)

Retarded pricing for what you're getting. People with more money than brains will be elated.

There was no thunder, really. It's tough to sell people a bike that is physically capable of making 212hp, but in actuality is only making 101hp due to super lazy emissions/noise crippling. Also - "there is a race kit that we don't trust people not to use on the street, so nobody in your country gets it"

Because I wouldn't be me otherwise... all I have to say is... 200hp+ V4 engined bike with championship DNA and top-shelf components?

And the silver bike in the background ain't too bad on a track, either.

This was a banner year for premium sport bikes ... but realistically, those are closer to WSBK than MotoGP ... not that there's anything wrong with that at all. And on that note, the 2016 ZX10R is very likely to be a cracking bike as well.

I am sure some rich Honda MotoGP fan will buy an RC213V-S, but it's more likely to end up in a display case than on the road.

I think it will be. We'll see how much it takes and how price competitive it is... right now there are a few bikes that are absolutely wicked stock, and a whole lot cheaper than say, the Panigale. It was a banner year, indeed.

As for them being closer to WSBK, sure. But I think if you have $160K left over to spend on one of those two bikes you could have a pretty nice bike... ;)

what a ****ing joke eh...$185k for the performance of a 600.

This bike is not meant to compete with anything on the street. The power level in North America is due to reduced RPM to meet sound level legislation, with Honda claiming that there isn't enough space for the required silencers. I just can't see this as a street bike anyway, they same way I see a lot more RSV4s at the track than I do on the street.

However, what this bike does do, is provide a homologation base. What are that chances that next year we'll see van der Mark and Haydon on RC213Vs?

They will but very few will actually ride then I'd imagine.

Complete waste of money imo. It does nothing spectacular for 190k. Has 150hp which is old news and is so expensive noone will want to actually track it or at least very few.

Pointless bike is. .. Pointless.

You might want to take that coment back while you can and don't embarrass yourself :)

and before you say anything about the 9k limit, performance is not only reflected on RPM

What do you mean?!? If it can't hit at least 12 thousand it should be sold at home depot in the lawnmower section. :p

why?? I know performance isn't just about straight line speed, its got all top notch components and all that, should have a good amount of torque but at the end of the day they chopped its balls off. Look at the Veyron, the things a ****ing beast, apples to oranges, but if you're paying top dollar you expect top dog performance. This thing not so much...the fact that they won't even sell the ****ing kit in NA that's ridiculous. What the **** is the point of making a machine that can't even do what its meant to?? At this point its one expensive *** novelty item.

I remember reading that all units have been sold and with 200 units produced, I am thinking this has more to do with WSBK than anything else.

They're not building it so they can race it in WSBK. They aren't making enough of them to meet the homologation rules. It's a manufacturer boutique build just like the Desmo. They know people will pony up money and they will sell out.

For example in 2014:
• The minimum number of units to start the homologation procedure will be 125.
• At the end of the first year of participation, manufacturers will have to reach 250 units.
• At the end of the second year of participation, manufacturers will have to reach 1000 units.
