Looking at the pics it appears rather generic.

I presently own 2 5ths + 1 6th. I dumped an 07 6th because of the VTec transition so we'll see how this one fairs. On my new-for-me one I'll be trying out a PC3/5 to smooth things out a bit.

The 800 fits a niche. Not all of us need more than 100hp, but do enjoy a broader torque curve. Also not too much bike (FJR etc) to be more than a handful.

It would have been nice to bring back the non-VTec engine of the VFR (5th) but with the green movement, there's a reason it exists in cars and in this case a bike. If they get the transition right it will make all the difference. I would have liked to see the implementation of shaft drive and an adjustable windscreen but I guess they were thinking price point.

I prefer "vanilla".

Sounds like you'd like the BMW 800 if that's how you feel about the VFR. I tried it out, very easy to ride bike and quite comfortable. I wanted back on my Tuono after a while, mind.

I also forgot to add the Super Tenere to the list. Again, kind of an adventure bike but it's one that would shop against the VFR in Ontario, I'd think.

I meant like the 2007 anniversary edition VFR800. I love that paint scheme...and yes, I'm not really wowed at all by the solid colours of the big pig vfr1200 or the colours of the new vfr800 right now. I've seen them in person and it's a high quality finish but it doesn't do much for me....except maybe the pearl white VFRs I've seen.

Oh yeah, if that's where you going then I'm on the same boat. The 6th gen Anniversary was more aggressive but they didn't go crazy with the paint scheme. Coincidentally, I find the Anniversary edition on the 5th gen butt ugly. You never see it though, very rare.

Hrm. I think they have a Sprint *G*T rather than *S*T now. I think that's my confusion.

Sprint ST was 2005 - 2009, Sprint GT was introduced in 2010. The Trophy replaced the Sprint in 2013. No Sprint available in North America after 2012.

Did they discontinue the 1200? That was a really nice bike and I much preferred it to my 800

Thanks for clearing that up. I'll remember that. I remember thinking the GT was a step backwards, kind of sounds like the market agreed. Thus the Trophy?

Great work for Honda .The VFR800 has plenty of power at 100hp.They are finally getting it .Traction control on any new bike is pretty much a must .

If you need traction control with a 100hp bike you might want to consider taking up another hobby.....

So it's heavier, makes roughly the same power (actually ever so slightly less), and in my opinion at least isn't as attractive as the old vfr 800. Sooooo why a new version?

Kellen while i generally agree with what you're getting at 10000 percent, that bike would be pretty under powered if you rode two up with a girl who weighed in at over 120 lbs. I realize you dont have that problem ;) 130 hp is kind of the sweet spot that i think of for a street bike, i would have liked to see a bit more power, at least more than the old one out of the new one.

I agree, the ST is the sportier Sprint. The new Trophy, on the other hand, is a land yacht.

heres a pic with the pillion cover...

If I owned one, that exhaust would have to go. Somehow they managed to make the most vanilla look ever.

yeah, its vanilla...so i guess that makes your bike a very ghey tutti fruitti

I think this new vfr looks great, especially when compared to the styling of the old model. But it's still wrong as the motor needs to be vtec-free 1000cc. And maybe a more advanced/adjustable traction control system would be nice, too.

if it ever comes to Canada, its mine !!

With 104,000 km on the 5th generation. Maybe I should upgrade too:)

I agree.I've owned two fifth gen. VFR's and they were the two best bikes I have ever owned.Thier only faults being they were a bit heavy and slightly underpowered. If Honda had bumped them up to 900cc's and ditched the vtec and abs they would have had the perfect all around sport tourer in my opinion
