2014 bmw s1000r

I didn't realize Hyosung made 160hp bikes with ABS, TC and semi-active suspension with brembo brakes. Thanks for the tip.
No but they make ugly *** bikes and that sir looks like one ugly *** bike

$2K more than the Tuono V4. And not as cool. Or as powerful. Haven't seen pricing for the new KTM yet, which is also quite a bit more interesting.

Braaackkk..Tuono V4, Tuono V4... Braaaacckkk

It's exactly the same price as the Tuono, except it has ABS and TC.

Uhm... no. All v4 Tuonos have TC/WC/LC and 2014 models have ABS available. If you want ABS then it's closer in price. But... the Tuono IMHO is a more interesting package and it's well-proven to be top of its food chain. Also, the electronics are superior to BMW's (and KTM's), if that's of interest.

Pricing yet to be released on the KTM 1290, which is also a more interesting bike than the S1000R.

That's some fine single-spar trike frame architecture. Wouldn't surprise me if those wheels are Marchesinis. Parrots love them.

The Tuono does look the business though.

So, you are saying that a Tuono is the best bike ever? 'cause i had no idea from your posts.

Based on.. what? What exactly is your relationship with Aprilia Canada?

If I were to invest in a new $14K+ bike, I would consider that Aprilia is in major financial trouble, again, with $200M in loans they can barely service, and layoffs this summer.
Yet somehow, they announce they may get into MotoGP in 2016. Lucky if they are still around by 2016.
Sales don't seem to match your opinions.

That bike is hideous. Flows decent til you get to the headlights and bam, looks like they just threw a lump of modelling clay on and moulded some blobby headlights. "It's a naked bike now"
FZ9, Speed triple and even the Tuono looks better.

I wouldn't go that far. But it's the best of the upright "naked bikes," probably. It's cheaper than the S1000R or the KTM, won the "naked bike of the year" in pretty well every comparison in the last two years, is based on a matured engine + electronics package, puts down within a few horsepower of the RSV4 regardless of what Aprilia is rating it at (but has better street gearing). If you want a high-powered, upright performance bike with electronics, you'd be a fool not to shop it and the KTM 1290 SuperDuke vs. the S1000R. Or you might like the combination of looks, rotary valve sounds and manic short gearing of the Brutale 1190.

Oh, and right now you can buy the Tuono for $1000 off + 3.5% financing, which I found out about in a Facebook post. I am keeping my v-twin but it's tempting. Naturally the Canadian website is behind the Aprilia Americas site... http://www.aprilia-canada.ca/en-CA/Model/94369/TUONO+V4+R/Overview.aspx

Based on.. what? What exactly is your relationship with Aprilia Canada?

Absolutely none, unless "customer" counts. I don't do *any* motorcycle-based business (or automotive, or aftermarket, or mechanical). My information is based on many published tests... based on the fact that the electronics are the same as on the RSV4. Do you know anything about the bike at all? Doesn't seem that you do.

I've read the headlines. Do I seem worried? They're owned by Piaggio group, which is massive. They also didn't layoff this summer, they closed plant production for the month of October, which is a different thing, isn't it? Honda closed its Goldwing plant, should I be worried about Honda?

All the Italian companies are hurting right now, the economy in Italy is actually worse than Greece in some ways. There is some cause for concern but I don't think I'm too worried about it. FYI, the "news" article that I saw had more speculation in it than fact.

Why don't people blink an eye on this board at rabid Yamaha or Honda fanboyism, but Shaman seems to really like Aprilia and it's somehow suspicious?

Not to mention that I own four Suzukis (if you include my ATV) and two Kawasakis for comparison.

Just like Shaman, I am huge fan of Aprilia. The Tuono is the most fun bike I ever owned.
To be completly honest, naked bikes never really interested me until George at Corsa Meccanica convinced me to take one for a spin, I was sold. The power is absolutely amazing, the handling just as good as most of the SS bikes that I have owned and last but determinately not least, extremely comfortable riding position by comparison.

It seems to be an growing interest in the naked bike segment, time will tell if it will translate into sales.

Of all the Naked bikes, I would still go with with Tuono, followed by the KTM.

It's good that you like how it looks so when it has oiling issues and grenades the engine you can put it in your living room as art (if you don't know what I am talking about, do a search, at least 2 and maybe 3 owned by gtam members died this summer)

Could you show us someone with the same level of fanboism for Honda or Yamaha?

Oh, could I ever. I have a friend that has had three REPSOL CBR 1000RRs in a row. Even after one of them literally broke the shock pivot off the swingarm at 70km/h and threw itself under an Xterra (that was a sickening thing to see in a mirror BTW) spontaneously. He won't hear a bad word against Honda and has never owned another brand.

His current CBR has about 60K on it, the issue that Honda never admitted to was fixed for the 2006/7 model.
