2013_09_04 Woodbine between Stouffville Road and Woodbine GWS

My gear did its job. BIG TIME!!Not sure if metal makes me stronger, just want it to keep my parts together.
Spent a full day at Sunnybrook yesterday and from all the results Im healing better than expected.
One bad accident every thirty years of riding I can take. Next one I wont feel.

i'm glad you're okay Simmy, the trauma centre at sunnybrook is as good as it gets. I'm glad you lived to tell the story. GWS and keep us informed on your recovery as im sure we all care for you

I guess its about time I made a couple apologies.Firstly to my wife.Im sorry to have put you through this. You have been incredible. I know Im a lousy stubborn patient.I cant imagine how you felt
when they handed you a bag of bloody clothing and my wedding ring before you got to see me.I will make it up to you.I promise.
Secondly to the personal injury lawyers.Im sorry I didnt suffer a tramatic enough brain injury to be worth not playing years worth of charades to get to the big money.I just want my life back.I couldnt live with myself if
I was to play your games.Better stop at that

Hey Simmy801.
I usually try to stay out of the Fallen Riders section and rarely post in it but have been keepin' an eye on this thread as it is so close to home.
It appears that they definitely got your head screwed back on straight. I wish you the best of luck that they do the same with the rest of you!

Screw the 0.05 BS RIDE program, seat belt blitzes, all the other road "enforcement" kife...

A police officer should march the SUV driver into your room, and see the damage they did.
Accountability...it is as vacant a concept as you can get on Ontario roads these days.

Been to see the surgeon whos doing my knee at St.Mikes.Calls it big surgery. Need all but one ligament replaced. Not enough left to fix. Apparently Im getting donor parts and I'm gonna have a couple cool scars. Hopefully this will all happen soon.Got a new bike coming in the spring. 2014 yamaha FZ-09. YAY!!!

SMH is a great place for orthopedic surgery. You will be in good hands. I hope all goes well and you have a full recovery. Congratulations on the new ride!

had my knee rebult @ SMH. donor bits as well. if you have access, get into a hottub as soon as the holes heal. the heat will help you stretch it out, and the bouyancy helps the same way.

Why not get a Can-Am Spyder instead? Then we can have a big thread about whether or not we're allowed to wave at you.

Moved to Romper Room so that the discussion can continue. Discussion is not permitted in the Fallen Riders section.

First off...Get well soon rider

Per: accountability, seeing some outrageous antics recently. The most favourite now seems to be stopping in the middle of the road (thankfully mostly residential streets) to do office work. No effort to pull over or find a proper parking spot.

Somehow didn't see this one until now. Wow sorry to hear what you had to go through Simmy but I hope you continue to heal, and will be ready to ride next year/season. I'll also add that it's threads like these that always make me double-check everything while riding, always wear my gear, etc as you never know what could happen.

As for the SUV driver, I hope they actually learned something from all this and will quadruple check every time and never cause an accident again, however I do doubt that'll be the case. It still baffles me that we can have such high penalties for speeding on an open road, yet almost kill someone with a vehicle and it's a slap on the wrist in comparison. It's on that note that I really really hope the changes to cell 'laws' goes through, and there is big time cost and demerit points for cell use in cars -- If it can even prevent one accident similar to this one it'd be more than worth it.
