some 03-04 model and some 05-06s..
my 04 just went out at 73,000.
my question: what is the significance of the 636 engine. if Suzuki can squeeze a 750 out of an inline 4 without compromising handling, why not a 750? and why not other numbers

Maybe insurance reasons?
Same insurance $ but a little more power.
Insurance is more for the 636 than a 600.
Statefarm places them with the 750cc I think.
Got quoted $3500 for a 600 and just over 5k for a 636.

I raced an 04 and an 05 636, both shifted flawlesslyNot all 636's loose 2nd gear, sloppy shifters will loose it...Ive been through 4 03/04 636 motors and only blew out 2nd on one...And thats from being a stunt bike that gets the **** kicked out of it...Ive rebuilt a few for other people on 05/06 and 03/04 also, but its not everyone...Its maybe %5 or less of the people that I know that own them that do it...The rest are fine...The 09-2012 I have not heard of anyone loosing 2nd on them
The good part is also that if you do manage to mess up your tranny on an 09+, they have cassette transmissions. I can rebuild one in 2-3 hours, without even removing the engine...Everything comes right out

It's just weird because most of the ppl I know have had transmission problems on the Kawi. Maybe it's just a strange series of events
