2013 Yamaha FZ8 and Flurries

Yesterday, my buddy picked up this bike. He and I shared riding it from Chatham to Brampton. Pretty solid and fun machine. It was my first time riding through flurries and momentary blow of snow. I had my cold weather gloves on and it was still freezing. My upper body was fine because I had multiple layers and my hi viz jacket from work is wonderful at keeping me warm. Could use snow pants over motorcycle pants though.

Here is a pic of me on it.

Feel free to throw mod ideas for him. He is thinking of slip on, bar end mirrors, touring windshield and nicer LED turn signals.

Nice looking bike.

I don't like most of your mod list but that's me, not your buddy so that does not matter. If you start messing with lights, make sure you are at least as bright as stock and preferably in a reasonably stock location. So many complete crap kits out there that make your intentions invisible.

Ride it for a while first. Check the dates on the tires.
Suspension upgrades. Springs suited to rider weight. Go on racetech.com and check what weights are suggested , and what they are stock.

Don't trust that the previous owner did any maintenance.
Grease and lube everything. Cables. Linkage. Head bearings. Change out the brake fluid. Oil change been done?

Forget the bar end mirrors. To they are useless. Unless he wants it to be a garage queen. My bike came with them and I could not see myself using them.

I got these LED turn signals off of Amazon and they seems to look and work well. They were inexpensive as well.
The front have the white as part of the running lights. The back have the same thing but it's red that's constantly on as part of running lights.

Slips on can be expensive.

Please please do not wire the LED turn signals directly into the bike's wiring harness. It baffles me why anybody does this. Cut the connectors off the stock signals, and wire the LEDs to those.

And keep the stock turn signals so I can put them back on when I buy the bike

Agree.
My factory front turn signal connectors actually had the running light wire in there already (blue).
The back was a different story.

I cleaned up a lot of the poor splicing from the previous owner(s). (Rip off some insulation and tie new signals wire in a knot and retape)?

I added my own proper connectors (soldered on) as I also added a aftermarket tail light and license plate lights. I have spare connections waiting for when I add additional turn signals to use when hard side cases are on. All enclosed in a small cigarette pack size “project box” under my seat.

I'm going to brag a little more

Shout-out to my son for operating the signals. Lol

Boots without laces would be my first mod. Ever catch a lace in a chain?

Sweet Ride!
a full fairing would make it much nicer at speed ;)
& you are missing your DOT rear dots after they installed the tail tidy.

I think that is the first thing that comes off of a bike.

Heated grips and heated gear :)
Would heated gloves do the work instead of heated grips?

Lol, the laces are pretty short but I do see your point. Looking into boots/riding shoes that have strong Velcro instead of laces. Don't want to find out how it is catching a lace in a chain.

;) put velcro over the laces, job done.

Did you ever go to put your foot down only to find out the kick starter was up your pant leg :|

You know what, I highly recommend you forget spending more money on the bike buy riding gear :| they are right those boots must suck.

Hey guys, bike is for sale. He does not like it. Wants to go back to SS. If you can offer a decent price, PM me.

Oh boy. That's a shame.

How could he have properly "tested"the bike with the weather we have had?

I'm guessing he doesn't like the ergonomics and/or aesthetics? I know I like having a fairing - feels weird to have nothing in front of you on a naked.
