General offroad, Single track. Yes the KLR can do it, but is not particularly good at it or well suited for it. It's too tall, too heavy, and the stock suspension sucks. The DR650 and DRZ400 are MUCH better in the dirt than the KLR(new or old).

You'd be surprised. At the last SCORRA event there was quite a few new blue plated KTMs, Huskys and Husabergs which arent factory street legal.

KLR/DRZ and the DRZ has limits in the other direction (going distance on the highway). Not many look to ride 2x4 seats for distance and there is no "right gearing" for one or the other.

Maybe convert in another province then switch to Ontario? No question if it's a factory dual sport it's fine but a conversion afaik is a nono
Course the people at the licencing office don't know squat ;) Just saying :D
