GWS rider. When will the penalties increase enough that drivers actually pay attention?

Ontario Provincial Police have closed a stretch of Old School Road in Caledon following a serious crash Tuesday morning.

Police said a car and a motorcycle collided on Old School Road between Heart Lake and Kennedy roads shortly before 7 a.m.

An OPP spokesman said the car may have been backing out of a driveway when it collided with the motorcycle.

An air ambulance landed at the scene and transported the motorcyclist to Sunnybrook Hospital with serious injuries.

The road closure may last several hours.

I believe the rider involved is a regular here, I don't know his username but his real name is Laurence or Larry, he's a part-time instructor for the m/c training at Sheridan and does the Tuesday/Wednesday night rides with some of the other regulars on this forum. No details yet but I understand he suffered leg and arm trauma and has been airlifted to Sunnybrook.

Holly Crap... if that was Larry, he was my instructor when I was taking the safety course at Sheridan last year... damn
GWS buddy.

The rider was indeed Laurence. Last I heard (11:30) he was out of surgery. No other details as of yet.

I've worked with him a number of times and it pains me to hear such terrible news. Just goes to show you though, it can happen to anyone. Be safe out there everyone and ride as if all other drivers are out to kill you. Don't underestimate their stupidity.

GWS Laurence. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

He is in surgery last I heard. Lawrence is one my servers husband. We are all thinking and praying for his speedy recovery.

Update, midnight Tuesday. Broken femur and pelvis, broken ribs and punctured lung, tendon damage in the left arm, chunks of skin missing, and required 9 units of blood. Will require more surgery and several more weeks at Sunnybrook.

The good news. No head trauma, lucid and coherent.

Terrible news ..... but good to hear that he's pulling through.

GWS Lawrence!

Wow I take that road every day at that time when I ride to work.
Took the car yesterday or I would have been right there.

Took those esses pretty darn fast this morning. Makes me think.

Recover fast.

Get well soon rider. Stay strong.
