2011 cbr125 + highway 401 = a surprise

the cbr 125 is great as long as you don't go on the highway. Its true that it can do 120km/hr on most summer days. However, commuting from scarborough to missisauga all of last year, i can assure you that there were days that i could not exceed 90km/hr due to wind, and especially cold october/november months. Some days, the speed drop was such that i had to exit the highway. At the same time, i have attained 140km/hr going downhill around 401/yonge area. Point beign, its a fantastic fun bike if your highway riding is merely out of curiorsity. I want to curse honda for not selling us the 150cc but they did provide us a 250cc and something for ninja to think about so honda is alright in my books.

Out of curioursity to Mr Brian P. is there any noticeable power difference between the old and new?
 
90 sounds pretty low, I don't care what the wind was. Most people make the mistake of ... a) not keeping the engine's RPMs in the powerband b) not tucking enough, especially when headwind is present. Some of us have used hwy daily and especially within GTA distances, I cannot see how I would be stopped from doing so. Sure, it's not a touring bike ....

The new bike does not make more peak power, however Honda seemed to manage to change the shape of the power curve, so the bike is able to use the available power more efficiently. Read his post again, how he was able to cruise hwy without tucking in, something he could not do with the old bike (prior to modifying it) ...

Don't forget that many people who buy these bikes "upgrade" way before they actually learn to ride them.
Once they do, they no longer have to be in the right part of the right gear. They can just leave it in second and go.
 
hey, just passed by this post, NICE BIKE! i love the colour! nice and sharp. i ride 2008 cbr125, its great, easy to handle for small person like me, even though its just tippy toes. we should ride sometime, i got 3 more cbr125 riders in my group here...
