hey guys i own a 2000 zx7r with only 21,000 km the bike was running fine last year and this year when i went to start it for the first time the main fuse keeps popping?. i was told it was the stator so i did a swap and the fuse still pops. people keep telling me theirs a short somewhere but don't know were to start looking any help would be nice!

Couple things come to mind. Any chance you're connecting the battery backwards? Any chance that fuel has leaked and filled one of your cylinders with fuel? Starter will blow main fuse when it tries to turn engine. Any chance mice have eaten insulation from wires causing a short?

to be honest i have no clue it was sitting in a farm thoe till i bought it and started it and i was ridding it for the whole summer. it wasn't giving me problems till i took the battery out in dec to charge it. when i put it back in the proper way it keeps popping the main fuse so i have no idea

Probably the regulator/rectifier.

Real common problem is the junction box on those bikes. Right behind battery with fuses in it. Try tapping it with something hard and see if it doesnt make the problem intermittent. If so change it out. They are about 150 bucks. I have a brand knew one in the OEM box I can sell for $100.

BTW you should post these type questions in the tech section. Likely get more help.

thanks guys i did everything you guys said when i took out the battery the company who made the battery labeled the positive and negatives backwards which was causing my bike to short out. now she wants to crank over but its like she's not getting enough juice

1. trickle charge battery out of bike
2. if battery still weak then use jumper cables and boost from a car with the car turned OFF

see if that works
did you change all the fluids and check the tire pressure before you went riding
