2000 RC51 rear break light issue

Check that existing switch before replacing it. If the switch is working, just make the connections to it properly and the problem is solved.

If the switch is not working, of course then buy a new one (preferably OEM pull-type). You'll still have to make the connections good, one way or the other ...
 
If there are no power in the wires there is a bad connection some where, or the line is pinched somewhere even though the wire shell isn't broken

If you are close to Scarborough/Markham area, I can help you check with multimeter, I am a licensed electrician and I do lots of stereo and power window retrofit.

I will need Timi as compensation though ;)

Thanks, but I just fixed the problem. I was hooked up with a brake light switch at a good price from another GTAM member (Brettmvh). It now works properly.
