Hi All,

I made 200,000 km on Sunday! I bought the bike new at the end of July in 2006, and every year I seem to ride more than the year before. This year 55,000 km so far. :)

Congrats and all the best on another 100k

You should inform Suzuki about this milestone. Some guys worry when their bikes hit 60,000 km.

In the GTA, people somehow are deluded into thinking 30,000 kms is high mileage,LOL

That's some good riding! Congrats and may you have many many more.
Just curious, what engine or transmission services/repairs have been done in those 200,000km. How many km on the clutch, cam chain tensioning, etc.

And I thought doing 20k a season was impressive! That's a ton of riding.

No reason why any of those things would need work.People underestimate an engines longevity.Lubrication is the key.

congrats ! I'm only at 130k on mine but I spread my riding amongst multiple bikes ! I'm shooting for 200k in 3 yrs

+1
my bike has only 23K when i was selling it and the buyer was like wow man its 23k already and it is old bla blah. I told him its not about the mileage, its how you keep your bike.

just curious, what do you do with a bike that reaches its limit or close to it. do you part it out, change the motor???

Apart from Oil changes and plugs, nothing has been done to the engine. Valves were last checked at 24,000 km and did not need adjustment.

Apart from the routine I had to do the following:

-Noise from front end, Greased speedo sensor at around 80,000km (? on mileage)

-replace clutch actuator mechanism (roughly $50 Canadian$) I think at around 100,000 km.

-Fuel filter plugged up starting around 120,000 km, was replaced with bypass operation over winter at 145,000 km.

-Rear wheel bearings replaced around 146,400 km

-Starter switch needed a good cleaning during the summer as I would get the occasional no-start which gradually got worse. I think this was back around 160,000 km,

-Clutch interlock switch needs a good cleaning. Have bypassed it and will prob take care of it when winter starts.

So far any issues I have had resulted in "soft" failures. ie: The bike was still rideable and did not leave me stuck anywhere. The bike uses oil and has since around 100,000 km; this is most obvious when riding at higher revs (5,000 rpm plus steady highway rides.) When riding back from Utah this past Sept I rode three days at 80 to 95 mph continuously; I did 3200 km in those three days and temps were usually 90 to 100F. It generally was at the bottom of the sight gauge at the end of the day. (Btw, I did roughly 10,300 km in about 10 days. Much of the ride had temps around 100f, with the highest being 124 f or so in Death Valley. It never missed a beat, never was hard to start, just kept ticking.

my insurance gave me a hard time because mine had 44000 when a minivan hit me from behind.

blame it on the timmie posers, must bikes I found for sale same year as mine had 13000km average (2008)
