Hey guys i was just wondering how much insurance rates would drop after a year of experience? I got my M1 in april and the did the safety course and obtained my M2. I am a fully licensed G driver and i want to Insure my 09 CBR600 next summer (20 years old btw) no tickets no trouble at all :) thanks in advance!

Hard to say but the best answer anyone will give you due to your age and bike selection is VERY LITTLE. 25 years old is your first real drop but for an SS you won't see a real decent price until you're 30. Look for a broker ( more then likely State Farm) that will bundle your car and bike together. At your age that's the best way to save on insurance, or get a non SS for a few years.

HUGE rates. I called a few companies for a quote and all gave me 6k+ for an 04 600rr.

I also called in for a quote if i had my m2 for a year. They all gave me 2-2.5k less

start low, get xp and time on your license. Then go big. Uf thats the route you plan

Did you buy the bike before checking for insurance?

I can see why someone would want an SS right away but it gives me a chuckle because it reminds me of the Hitler Wants an SS video on YouTube. I'm sure its been posted here before :p

It will probably be between $3-$5K for the year.

If you can get in with SF (Need your Glicense for 5 years, so it may be the year after) and bundle your car you will save 40 percent of your bikes premium (But they are also very expensive for a car)

Unless you or daddy are rich, I would highly suggest getting rid of the CBR until you are wealthy = 21, average = 25.
Best bet would have been to get insurance quotes BEFORE you bought the bike, I would look into either a 250 or maybe a 500R or SV650 if you want a bigger bike.
The money you save on insurance will pay for your CBR again when you turn 25

Looks like a CBR600 will be on sale the moment OP realizes it is expensive as hell to insure an SS especially without a G for 5 years (for SF). I think the only real hope is TD MM, or Facility (sometimes)

lol thanks guys , I already quoted for 5k liability only in june so if its true it will drop around 2-3k then i should be good !

Who was that quote through?
If it was SF quoted as 21 w/ 5years G license, then it won't go down until you turn 25

I don't think you'll see a drop by that much but if that's what riding an SS is worth to you by all means have fun. If you are going to spend that kinda cash can I suggest you buy back your health index. That's so important.

FYI Quotes are usually only valid for 30 days or so. Therefore quotes for a later date can change dramatically.

I know a guy who was 21 with an M2 insured his bike with Facility for 3800/year (no tickets no accidents). I'm 21 and was paying (technically still am) 4200/year for an 09 600RR with Statefarm. That's also only one way + comprehensive. I paid 4000/year for my 250 when I was 20... But I've got 1 at fault accident 4 years ago + 1 Minor.

21 is a big price drop since you move from the 18 - 20 bracket into the 21 - 24 bracket. 4000/year for 250 first year with Jevco, second year I qualified for StateFarm and turned 21, dropped to 1800/year.

Wtf??? I'm 20 and have my full M and full G and I can't find anything less than $3500/year for anything that has 600cc (even a non-sport bike 600cc)

Who did you call? Or do you live in the middle of nowhere? Cause postal codes affect rates :\

Why the high rate you ask? That's your answer right there.

You must have some deep pockets to be paying $4000/year on a ninja 250.... I got a better rate than you as a male with an at fault claim + ticket on record on my first year for a ninja 250 w/ facility....

Congratulations... lol

I never called Facility because I thought they would be high since only people who can't get insured or don't have any driving history take them... And I work hard for what I have no deep pockets here
