got my bike certified today by ted he is an amazing guy. Helped me adjust my chain and lubricate it. He is really nice and funny. im so happy that part is done all i got to do is call my insurance company tomorrow and get the plates then im officially a rider. So excited to get my bike on the streets :D
All cbr/kawi 125 & 250 newbies lets invade toronto downtown and go on a group ride together soon (next week) :D

just want to share that

Ahhh yes, exciting times. I remember my first ride :) yeah Teds a funny dude. Gonna highly recommend you gain some seat time before taking on group rides (especially downtown). Gives you time to concentrate on riding technique rather than keeping up with a group. Other than that, congrats and I wish you a nice long prosperous riding career.

Take that bike for a few rides all of this week, don't hit highways, be very patient and take time to get used to the bike.. many people recommend at least 1000km of solo riding before joining a group.

The best way to get your confidence and some decent riding time is to go for an ice cream @ barrie or Georgian n then back to TO.

Totally agree.

When you join a group there is a high possibility of riding beyond your capabilities and bad things happen when you do that.

Seat time is key

welcome to riding world , downtown isnt good for learning and forget about group riding in downtown . take the bike out of the city afew times and try riding with some friends first instead of joining group ridings ... after that u can join some group ridings , check the ridings and hookups section , we are actually meeting tonight to hit some twisties 250s only tho

I love riding downtown, not sure how fun a group ride would be in the downtown core. It would probably draw a lot of attention.

Go up Mt Pleasant Rd -> East(right) on Davisville Ave -> South(right) on Bayview Ave -> West(right) on Rosedale Valley Rd -> And repeat

why not? if I may ask? are you M1 still?

Not quite sure as to why you can't take your bike outta the city. We're not talking boonies here, just a area with less to go wrong and distract you while learning the ropes. Downtown you have, aggressive car drivers (cabs are the worst) that dont hesitate to cut you off. Bicyclist that feel they own every inch of whatever they can ride their bicycles on and pedestrians that seem to be eager to jump out infront of any moving object. Lol
Not to mention train tracks that can get tricky and parked cars swinging doors open.

If you do indeed have friends that are mature riders and able to guide you in a ride ask them to take you to areas less congested and safer for you. If not I'm sure if you ask nicely one of the awesome members on here would gladly help out. Take the appropriate time to learn how to ride, trust me...you'll be better off in the long run and will be glad you took this advise.

I know I know, your eager as hell to ride and explore your hood but it may just cost you Lottsa money and even worse an injury if anything may go wrong. Just sayyyyyin.......

i ride a cbr 125 im ok with going out of the city as long as i dont have to take any highway. i know cabs are the worst and craziest drivers and im so worried about that. i get worried driving a car around cabs so i know it will be worse with a bike. im willing to drive out of the city and learn and take ur advice i just dont want to take any highways or fast roads. im new and got cbr125 not good combo on a speedy road. if u can tell me of places that r nice and quite and i can get to without having to take highways just inside roads then i would appreciate it
